Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall Continues Recruiting Campaign With Peyton Manning

Last week, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall sent out a resume to any and all potential free agent quarterbacks by winning the Pro Bowl MVP award, along with a Pro Bowl record 4-touchdowns. Marshall also clearly established his desire to see the Dolphins upgrade the quarterback position.

And it didn't end with comments like, "Obviously, Matt [Moore] had a great year. You don't want to take anything away from Matt, but I think we really bring in somebody who can compete and make the team better."

Marshall admitted that he has already talked to soon-to-be free agent Matt Flynn about coming to Miami:

"You've got some guys in the draft, but there's not too many guys out there just walking the streets," Marshall said. "Matt [Flynn] is available. ... We've talked. I reached out to him. I get it from Ray Lewis. Around this time of year, players talk to players."

Apparently, Marshall isn't done in his recruiting of a new quarterback. Today, Marshall was working with the Indianapolis Colts' future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning in Indianapolis for the Build Our Kids' Success program at the Super Bowl site. Coincidentally, Manning is expected to be released by the Colts between now and his $28 million roster bonus on March 8. And, Marshall would not miss the opportunity to recruit.

Star-divide

And, remember, Marshall is just spreading the company line right now. General manager Jeff Ireland and head coach Joe Philbin have both made comments recently about the Dolphins' goal of upgrading the quarterback position. Marshall is just using his position as the top wide receiver on the roster to sell the team as a destination franchise.

So, would Peyton consider the Dolphins as a potential landing spot, whenever he is released? Other than Miami, the Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, and Tennessee Titans are all seen as possible suitors for Manning.

But, Marshall will do everything he can to make Miami the front runner.

I like this at least he's trying

and I can’t imagine why Ireland or philbin would complain about him trying to edge Manning over to Miami since they can’t do it why not have your offenses best weapon do it plus are QB’s and WR’s suppose yo have the closest relationship on the field and off the field anyway? I’d back Marshall 100% with this

I give Marshall a lot of credit

He came here with a lot of questions of character, and while he hasn’t been an angel his whole time in Miami, I think he has learned that being a pro means working with the front office and talking team and not just himself. Hopefully Miami can bring in (or develop if Moore is still our guy) a QB that will keep him happy and give him some more 4 TD games.

I'm drooling over this combo

Manning…to Marshall…TD!

Although

not the biggest proponent of bringing in Manning anymore, I admire what Marshall is doing and the way in which he is doing it. You almost feel like he is FO material the way he is going out there and playing the (other) game. Tactfully aggressive.

manning

Manning’s neck may be healed but the nerves in his arm have not regenerated to the point that he would have near the strength he had before. Sign this guy over Flynn and it will be Culpepper over Brees all over again

Who do you think Marshall would rather have throwing him the ball?

A HoFer with his best years behind him(a has-been) Chad Henne(a never-will-be) or Matt Moore(a solid career backup). If Manning can throw the ball half as good as he could before the neck surgery he is still in the top half of this league at QB purely because of his brain. Do you think he is smarter than Chad Pennington? YES… yes I do. How hard does he have to be able to throw the ball to throw it better than Pennington? Not that hard.

I dont know Chad was a genius

every coach who was with basically said he was the smartest player they’ve ever had.

but not compared to Manning ... come on man...

It is what made him one of the best.. Brady is a system QB… Manning is the system.

Idk, both understand the game at the highest level. Manning had the arm to make the plays while CP10 couldn’t. CP10 playing history was full of set backs to. I would say Manning is probably the smarter player. But who knows how good CP10 could of been with a stronger arm and more durable body. It’s really too close to call even though I give Manning the edge.

Manning was better at putting him team in the best play on every single play..

Pennington was very good, but Manning is the best in the game at putting his team in the best possible plays.

I love what Marshall is doing

if we bring in Manning, or Flynn for that matter. they will already have a positive relationship with their number 1 wide out. Manning’s best friend on the team always is his favorite target Marvin Harrison, Dallas Clark. if he comes here maybe his new best friend becomes Marshall, and that would be fantastic for us all.

THeres one smallprobalem with this....

What if we dont bring in Flynn or Manning? What if we draft RGIII and he isnt ready to play right away, or worst case, we dont upgrade the QB situation at all. Now with Marshall running his mouth all over town, how are he and Moore gonna play together next year?

Who cares

Who cares what Matt Moore thinks? These guys are paid professionals to do a job. How many of us regular blue-collar workers have assholes we can’t stand at work-almost everybody right? So if his feelings are hurt, so what! Do your job that you are so well paid to do. Now I’m not saying that players should purposely attack other players but that is not the case here. Brandon is just saying what most fans and the FO is saying already. Been saying it every year since Marino left.

Well....

If Matt Moore is the starting QB next year, then I care what his mindset is, and I certainly care what kind of relationship he has with the number one receiver on the team. I get that Moore shouldnt care, and should just do his job, but these guys arent robots. And if everything else falls through and we can’t upgrade the position, I’d rather our starting QB not have a problem with his best target. Ask the Jets how that works out…

Marshall

has only said the same thing fans and eventually, owner and FO has said, Moore is good, but we need an upgrade at the QB position. Everyone has acknowledged that Moore did a decent job, but he is not stellar.

Moores ability level has absolutely nothing to do with my point....

My point is if all else fails and Moore is the starter next year, this could hurt chemistry. And the relationship Moore has with ownership, the front office or the fans doesnt have the slightest effect on the game on the field. The relationship with his WR is of vital importance on gameday, however…I understand we need to upgrade the position, but there is no garauntee that we actually do it. THere are about fifty different scenarios that play out that have Moore starting for us next year….

I agree Mrshall is out there doing what our FO can't do for more than a month.

I give him credit for that and if anyone wondered why Marshall was playing his heart out at the Pro Bowl, I think we found our answer. Marshall knows it, we know it and apparently the FO has acknowledged that we need a Franchise QB. And if there is anyone’s leadership book to take a page out of, it is Ray Lewis in my opinion . Go get em Brandon and then stop dropping the passes…

Sooo, maybe?

Jake should go ‘chat’ with Peyton?

^^^This!!!
Conversation sumed up in one sentence....

Peyton, I got your back

Hope he doesn't....

lose his “nerve”
LOLOLOL

I think what Brandon is doing is great for the franchise, but running his mouth about it at the pro bowl wasn't the classiest thing to do.

Could have been more discreet, but I’m nitpicking. But I mean like, I’m sure Larry FitzGerald has tried to reach out to other QBs in the past, but he keeps his mouth shut about it to the public.

At the Pro Bowl

he was giving credit for the 4 TDs to the caliber of QBs as opposed to talking himself up and even then, he gave props to Moore for doing a good job throughout the season.

Not only is he a beast...

He seems to have some talent as a recruiter, go Marshall… Find the QB you need, do whatever it takes make friends with all the top Qb’s I love it I really hope manning can play I’m sure they will make sure he is good to go b4 making any deal. But really Marshall is impressing me, I can’t belive some idiot actually wrote and article about trading him, that was the most ridiculous thing I have heard recently…A healthy manning or Flynn in Miami will make me and Marshall happy people!

I can think of maybe 2 players that are

untouchable and Marshall is not one of them. You have to give something to get something!

2 Untouchables?

As a fan, I can probably count out 5 or so. As an owner or GM…. I count ZERO! Depending on what they fetch in return and how much that improves the overall winnability (yeah, I meade it up… so what? Lol) and we can replace for cheaper with a small drop off, I’d do it. Long included. Bush included. Wake included. Marshall included. Hey, I love all of these guys as a fan, but for the right price, you gotta do it.

This is awesome, we need a QB Brandon is trying to help

He cool. Enough said!

IF

Peyton was the old Peyton, then HELL YEAH. But, it’s a roll of the dice. But then again, so is Flynn and any of the QB’s in the draft. I would rather have Peyton or Flynn, the price for moving up for a “maybe” is just too high. Although the price for these two will not be cheap. I’m glad I don’t have to make this decision, because if it goes wrong, you’re a dumbass. Tough, tough, tough.

Its funny how this is not tampering
