Miami Dolphins legend, the newly retired Jason Taylor sent out an interesting tweet tonight. I'm not implying anything, but if anyone has Jeff Ireland or Joe Philbin's phone number, maybe you should try giving them a call...
This is kind of a selfish thing to worry about. The goal is to win games as a team and if you achieve the accolades along the way great ! But everybody’s focus should be together as a team and not personal records. Kind of suprised that JT would even say that. He could of at least hid that by saying- “I feel I might have one more year left in me.”
I sure would like to see him go another year, however I hate the waffling thing that Brett Farve pulled. This seems like the beginnings of that type of behavior,….
When you keep a old guy around and play him over a number 1draft pick who had already missed the year before then you win 6 games and you fail to develope the young guy who is going to be needed. I do not get the whole JT thing. I watched him from day one and I seen a guy who gets the majority of his sacks by guessing the snap count and trying to cheat a head start around the outside. This also accounted for all his forced fumbles and recoveries. In the meantime other teams ran into the hole he left for years and pushed him 3 yards off the line of scrmmage on every play that was a short yardage situation. Taylor was a major weakness against the run his whole career and the guy never layed out a hard hit to a running back in his long career. Funny how New England who has the worst defense in the NFL did not want him back but the Dolphins top 10 defense did? These are the kind of small things that have killed the Fins for the last 20 years, Why hold onto a old guy who is nothing more than a outside pass rusher when Odrick is getting paid a big contract to sit and watch. Anyone who says Taylor is better than Odrick needs to go watch the tape. Odrick has twice the power and is way better against the run. My point is this. Why draft Odrick and loose him his rookie year before he got to play at all and then sign a Jason Taylor and bring him in for Odricks 2nd year and allow him to take away from Odricks developement. I have heard plenty of experts knock the move and rightly so. Sparano and crew never seemed to have a clue as to where they were heading on defense. Both years that we had as defensive coordintator we were killed by oppossing offenses the first 6 games of the year and the guy was supposed to be a blitz crazy kinda coach but both years he hardly blitzed at all in the first 6 games and the defense becasue we had two young corners trying to learn the game and they were having to try and stay with there men for 4 or 5 seconds on every play because of the conservative play calling and inablitly to generate a rush with the front 4. Taylor got everyone of his sacks at the end of the last few games when it did not matter. He was no where to be found when it counted early on. If you want a nother loosing season then bring back old guys like Jason and let your young studs get screwed out of playing time. Odrick will be a beast just about the time his first contract runs out and he will remember watching Taylor from the sidelines and laugh in the Dolphins face when they attempt to resign him. This kind of stuff is what the Lions and Bengals do and no one wants to play on those teams or get drafted by them. The Dolphins on knocking on the door of being one of those teams and they had better get their act togethor right now because time is up. You are going to start seeing 40,000 empty seats at every home game if Miami fails to start doing all the little things. Start it off right by giving JT a big retirement bash which he deserves for playing so long in this league and then tell him you are moving forward and let him know not to start with the media if he gets the itch to play next year because you have no interest in bringing him back every again because the young players cannot develope when the prime pass rushing situations are being given to a 36 year old guy who is no where to be found when it comes to run defense. Dolphins should trade this years number 1 along with two more number 1 picks and Marshall to the Colts for the rights to draft Luck. Our number one picks usually do not pan out any ways so big deal. Bring Luck to town and every big name free agent in the league will interview with Miami for the next 10 years because they all want to play for a winner.
Funny how New England who has the worst defense in the NFL did not want him back
Did I miss something, when did JT play for NE?
Why draft Odrick and loose him his rookie year before he got to play at all and then sign a Jason Taylor and bring him in for Odricks 2nd year and allow him to take away from Odricks developement.
Huh? JT played OLB in the 3-4, Odrick was a 3-4 DE and DT in the 4-3. The starting DL was Starks, Soliai and Langford with Odrick, McDaniel and Merling rotating in.
He was no where to be found when it counted early on.
He was SOLB backup to Misi until Misi went down for the year.
Our number one picks usually do not pan out any ways so big deal.
Our last 4 #1 picks are looking quite promising.
JT might have been up there in age but a lot can be said about having a strong presence in the locker room, look what happened to the Jets this past year.
I see some of your logic Brickstone, but they JT thing is way off on guessing snap counts, Thats what your supposed to do when you rush the QB. FYI. BUt it is your thoughts and your intitled to them, but make sure you say your sorry !! Just kidding
Luck hasn't played a single game yet and he is Christlike.
I’ve seen luck play a few times and was not highly impressed. I look at V. Young and M. Lienart both top in college but not much now.
I think the Media gets a woody and can’t stop stroking it until everyone BELIEVES!

I think you're right...
While I would live for him to come back, I think it was just a jab at Strahan.

I'm sure he'll be having Dolphins withdrawal symptoms like we all do
But I’m also pretty sure that he was just joking about this
