New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker is scheduled to be a free agent next month. Will the Patriots franchise tag Welker?

The 2012 NFL Free Agency period begins in 23 days. Today we continue our look at players expected to become free agents on March 13. This list, as with the free agent quarterbacks and free agent running backs lists, before it, does not project players that could get the franchise tag (Wes Welker), nor does it anticipate players who could be released by the team. This is simply a list of players with expiring contracts.

Today's list takes a look at the free agent wide receivers:

What, mo Moss?

Seriously, if there’s one area the Dolphins don’t need to spend any FA money on, this is it. No thanks, I’ll pass

Bring Camarillo back!
Bring em back...bring em back....

Teddy Ginn!

Forget Camarillo and Ginn....

Mark Clayton is still playing???? Bring that guy back....

No

It's a different Mark Clayton

hence the sarcasm box....
Hence my sarcasm box....
Laurent Robinson, Manningham, Meachum and Colston

are respectable priced FAs to man a roster spot. To be explosive, you need playmakers.

Robinson needs to come in, he can unseat hatrline and would be a big upgrade
Bring Ted Gin back

and also get Dwayne Bowe afterall he was born in Miami

Ugh

I’ll probably be tarred and feathered for this….

But I’m on the Ted Ginn return trip cruise as well. I don’t really think San Fran lets him walk, but if they do, I say we nab him. I agree we are good at WR this year and have more pressing needs, but I wouldn’t be mad at roping him back in the fold.

Maybe even shipping Hartline and Wallace to St Louis as a package to attempt to get RGIII.

He was a great special teams player

The 49ers showed how important he is as a kick returner, when he missed the NFC championship game. He misses it and his backup lost the game. They will definitely resign him.

Manningham

I wouldn’t mind seeing Mario Manningham lining up across from Marshall.

x2!

I said this even before the superbowl!

If we sign Manning then I expect Reggie Wayne to want to come back to Miami with him

I dont see us trading for Wallace, and the only receivers I actually would look at are Desean Jackson or Vincent Jackson.

Exactly ^ this

Mike Wallace, D. Jackson, R. Wayne, is all we need oh and I forgot Marquis Colston, all speedy receivers that are play makers. The end.

makes no sense at all, where do you think we can find the money to pay Wallace/Jackson/Colston?

they all will demand #1 receiver money which we do not have

Alot of great fits for us

we have to look for a guy with speed and pretty good hands (aka not Ted Ginn) who will come pretty cheap. Some receiver that fit that bill perfectly are: Mario Manningham, Robert Meachem, Pierre Garcon, and Laurant Robinson. Sure, there are bigger names, but we shouldnt be spending too much money on another WR. I would be very happy with any of those 4 (Eddie Royal wouldnt be that bad either)…

Eddie Royal would be a great fit for the Dolphins

Fast, elusive, good hands. He’s built for the WCO

yea, Manningham would be my #1 choice though
Pierre Garcon

Would be my top choice. But if the Phins decide to add another WR, I’d much rather go after a WR in the draft. Kendall Wright is at the top of my list.

If Manning comes here Garcon would make sense.

And I like Amendola or Weems as PR/KR/WR. “Look Ma, No Hands” Ginn can stay in SF

We have a couple of young guys that we haven't even really thrown the ball yet...

How about if we see if a guy like Manning or Flynn can get them the ball rather than just drafting new WRs or signing veteran WRs who might not have too many years left.

Marlon Moore

I still think Marlon Moore could produce, if given more opportunities. He has the intangibles to be be a solid WR. Same with Roberto Wallace. Glyde Gates IMO will never be anything but a specialist and slot reciever….we already have our little engine that could in Bess. Finally, Pruitt has some good measurables as well. I feel confident in our WR corps without signing anyone. However, if we can find a way to bring Manningham in for fairly cheap, then it wouldn’t hurt to have another weapon.

Watching how NY won the SB....

You need a QB that can spread the ball to many different targets and some running game to keep opposing defences off-balanced. You can’t depend on 1 WR to take over the game.

NE completely covered Cruz, so Eli threw to Manningham and Nicks, sometimes to a TE Post and RB in the flat.

That’s the same for GB that ran empty back-field set as their base package.

Currently, we only have Bess and Marshall, so we need 1 or 2 more dependable WRs.

garcon, manningham, or meachem

i think any one of them would be good fits. they all have speed and wont break the bank
