Earlier today, I was in a discussion on Twitter on players changing jersey numbers. That discussion turned into the "old" jersey you have that you can't really wear any more. Which, made me think, what's the worst jersey purchase you have made?
Before I tell you mine, there's one rule for this discussion - it's free of ridicule for buying that jersey. You can't harass someone for having bought a player's jersey. We are all Dolphins fans, and jump at the idea of getting that next great player - and I'm sure we all end up buying at least one bad jersey.
Unfortunately, I have three I would nominate into the category. I have an orange Ted Ginn, Jr. jersey, an aqua Daunte Culpepper jersey, and an aqua Joey Porter jersey. Man, I really wish I could go back and not buy any of those.
So, what's your worst jersey buy?

I’m not shocked at the Dolphins fan aspect of buying those jerseys. I am surprised you managed to force yourself into buying a Michigan guy’s jersey, though.

My Jerseys
Every year, I go to NFLshop.com and buy a jersey of someone that I hope will be around for years to come. When I first started this, I only bought a jersey from our most recent draft class. This was hard because none of the players that I was spending $275 on their jerseys had ever played a game for us. Here is my list…..

4. Sean Smith
I scraped this idea a few years ago and went with Zach Thomas. Last year I sucked up and bought a Karlos Dansby.
This year, I think Im gonna go with Vontae Davis.

Except mine is a aqua Ricky Williams jersey and I do not regret it. Ricky was my favorite player of all time, so nothing to regret. At one point (when he retired) I considered taping the 3 into an 8 and taping the “Williams” over and writing “Chambers” on the back (2nd favorite player).
I’m not a fan of jerseys. They’re way too big for me. I could live in them. I think my Ricky one is like a XXL and I wear a medium t-shirt.

Aqua Jay Feidler # 9
I liked Jay at the time … but he never really became a star or face of the franchise. To make matters even worse, no other Dolphin will wear #9 (Sorry, but i can’t count Devlin at this point) so I can’t even sew a new name-tag over it. One more reason to loathe the decision to let Drew Brees walk out of town.
Oh well. I still wear it around town on game days (After church of course)

Ronnie Brown. He just never turned into the kind of player expected. Normally I’m pretty safe with jerseys and only buy those of established players like Marino, Thomas, Taylor, Madison, etc. In fact, I was close to buying a Brandon Marshall jersey, but I still haven’t done so. Wearing a Marino jersey is still my favorite so I’m in no rush to buy one of a current player.

Ronnie Brown was playing
at a very high level up through his injury in the 2007 season, throughout 2008 and up to his terrible Lisfranc fracture in the Buc’s game in 2009. Ronnie Brown was a big piece of Cam Cameron and Dan Henning’s offenses and played very well in all of his roles in those two offenses.
For a brief period of time, Ronnie Brown was playing some very good football.

Just saying as in, I don't think you should regret having a Ronnie Brown jersey.
The running back position is a very hard position to sustain productivity at for any long period pf time in the NFL and Ronnie Brown was an intrical piece of the Dolphins offense for a few seasons at the peak of his career.
I own a Kendall Langford jersey and despite him (without any doubt) departing this offseason and never having been a great player in Miami, or garnering tremendous productivity, he was an intrical piece of the teams 3-4 defense and was probably the best pure 5-tech player on the team for all 4 of his years in Miami. He was never by any means the best Defensive End in Miami (not in any of his four seasons IMO) but he had his role, as did Ronne.

he was “retiring” from the game after testing positive once again. I was PISSED! I never even gave it to my son and instead gave it to Goodwill in protest.

This may take the cake as the worst...
I get really into the young upcoming players, and I like to wear their jerseys so that people ask, who is that and I can, in short say, “our future, just wait and see.” In 2009, with Fasano trade talk and only one game played, I went out and bought a Kory Sperry orange jersey. It’s so nice, but he only played that one game, with 3 receptions for 103 yards and a td. Then we traded him that offseason. I still wear it around my house because I refuse to not got my wear out of it. Damn you Kory Sperry!

Don't really regret it too much
But, I’d have to say Ronnie Brown. Love the guy, but bought it the last year that he was a Dolphin. Dissappointed that they let him go – and thought that it was a mistake – but after watching him do next to nothing in Philly… maybe it was the right move. My Marino and Z. Thomas were both great choices – obviously!

Not so much because of the buy…. It’s because when he went to the Jets I turned his name from Taylor to Traitor with permanent marker. I also frayed the arms and bottom of the jersey… and might have scorched the number a little bit with a lighter.

Only regret...
is not getting a Zach or JT jersey sooner.
Some slight regret at my Henne jersey. Though I still look at him as a missed opportunity, rather than an outright bust like Ginn.
Still hoping that someone out there will step up and make a Jake Scott #13 jersey, which I would buy in a heartbeat.
And my favorite of all time is still my Ricky Williams #27 Toronto Argonauts jersey.
