After a day off, the college bowl season returns tonight with the Cotton Bowl featuring the Kansas State Wildcats and the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Wildcats come into the game ranked number eight in the nation, and had BCS aspirations this season, until the Sugar Bowl skipped them from Virginia Tech and Michigan. Arkansas, the nation's sixth ranked team, comes into the game with just two losses on the year - to the two BCS National Championship game teams, LSU and Alabama.
For more info on both teams, check out Sports Illustrated's full preview of the Cotton Bowl.
Enjoy!

ESPN is not reporting that Fisher will sing on with the Rams.
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
*NOW
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
online or on TV?
The Earl - January 6, 2012
Not sure. Just saw it in a tweet from Matty.
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
I can deal with it
I didn’t care that much about getting Fisher.
The Earl - January 6, 2012
I blame you then!
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
LOL... Can't be my fault
I would have drafted a great QB by now.
The Earl - January 6, 2012
Yes that is in fact your fault too. Sorry Nickys not here so its all your fault for now.
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
Huh i want Martz!
wild zion beaver - January 6, 2012
So far all I see on ESPN.com is the "down to Dolphins/Rams" report
But idk if Matty would tweet that if it wasn’t true
phinsphan85 - January 6, 2012
Ok I see the Fanshot now, it's still unofficial
I’d still rather draft RG III than bring in Philbin and Flynn together at the hip though. Oh well such is life
phinsphan85 - January 6, 2012
yeah
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
Looks like we'll have a ball game now
After Arkansas gave the impression of a blowout.
Ravens One - January 6, 2012
VERY interesting:
Though I’m not sure if “Dolphibs” is an intentional typo or not.
The Earl - January 6, 2012
And what about Nolan?
phinsphan85 - January 6, 2012
I think that answers your question.
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
There are two questions that arise here:
1) What happens to Nolan
2) How does Bowles feel about that?
Could we see Nolan as HC next year?
The Earl - January 6, 2012
I think if the rumor of Nolan wanting to leave was correct then that might be your answer.
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
where was that rumor?
Does Nolan want out?
The Earl - January 6, 2012
There was some rumor/report that he asked out of his contract after last season.
He also may not be real thrilled at not getting an interview for our HC gig.
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
yeah i don't like it though LOL
As bad as the seasons are, the offseasons are worse
phinsphan85 - January 6, 2012
Yeah it's tough cuz the n and b are side by side so it could've been a typo
though I’m not sure if Philbin would be great or not. I’d rather have Chud but we’ll see. I just can’t wait til the search is over .Wait’s for Earl’s Survivor music video
phinsphan85 - January 6, 2012
The "source" here often has typos, so it's probably just a mistake
But Dolphibs could be funny since this FO is known for saying one thing and doing another.
The Earl - January 6, 2012
lol that would be funny
phinsphan85 - January 6, 2012
whats up guys
AnishB15 - January 6, 2012
I really hope we don't get Fischer
AnishB15 - January 6, 2012
Hush!
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
What up kiddo?
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
I'm good
How about you?
AnishB15 - January 6, 2012

texascowpunk - January 6, 2012

wild zion beaver - January 6, 2012

What exactly is so bad about this job?
phinsphan85 - January 6, 2012

texascowpunk - January 6, 2012

texascowpunk - January 6, 2012

daytonadolfan - January 6, 2012
No, he only gets to pick them up after they have been used.
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
better , lol
daytonadolfan - January 6, 2012
Several reasons, but the biggest reason is that we have no QB
We are in a terrible situation. We could have gotten a big name coach in 2008, when they could have gotten Ryan as a franchise QB. But now, we are drafting just high enough that we can’t get a QB, but low enough to let them know we can’t win. If we had secured the #1 overall pick this year, coaches would have been beating down the doors to interview here. They would ride Luck’s arm to the playoffs year after year and enhance their legacy. No one wants to come into a team where they have to scratch around year after year with a mediocre QB.
The Earl - January 6, 2012
This is why I laugh at these fans that get so excited about a few meaningless wins
and then wonder why we can’t get anyone to coach here. They try to rationalize the mediocrity here and cannot understand that those 6 wins are what is hurting our coaching search right now. If we had gone 1-15 and had the #1 overall pick, we’d have our choice of coaches. Why? Andrew Luck. No one is excited to come coach here because of Matt Moore and a 1st round RT.
The Earl - January 6, 2012
Lol, yeah and people make sarcastic remarks about us wanting a 1st rounder.
Before it was Moore vs draft pick, now it’s Flynn vs draft pick. Well Flynn vs Griffin I should say..
phinsphan85 - January 6, 2012
Dolphins fans are a sad and desperate bunch
I have never seen a franchise that needed a QB more than us that was more afraid to draft one. Seriously, they are so worried that our 1st round choice will bust, that they forget we have been bad at QB for YEARS!
The Earl - January 6, 2012
you are harshing my mellow, duke. lol
daytonadolfan - January 6, 2012
It's completely baffling
If we drafted a 1st round RT and a 3rd QB, fans would be happy because “that QB can develop and our O-line will make him great”. Except that never happens here. We just get an inferior QB who has 6 seconds to throw an INT instead of 3 seconds.
But if we flipped that and drafted a 1st round QB and a 3rd round RT, they would freak because 1st round QBs bust and 3rd round RTs just aren’t good enough.
They think it’s perfectly fine to wait until the 3rd round to try and fill the most important position in all of sports and would rather use their biggest asset to fill a position that is probably about middle of the pack in terms of importance. And they freak out if you reversed that philosophy. That defies common sense.
The Earl - January 6, 2012

phinsphan85 - January 6, 2012
the powers that be controll all situations!
wild zion beaver - January 6, 2012
You can keep laughing at me.
But, you know what, I happily take “meaningless” wins every single week. I’m happy that we won 6 games this year. Because, for that week, we won. Sure, I wish we could draft Andrew Luck at #1 – but I want the win. If you told me I could start this season all over again, and either end up 6-10, or not win a game, but get Andrew Luck, I say bring on 6-10. Because at least then I get to watch my team win.
Laugh at me. Call me a bad fan, because I can’t see the big picture. Tell me all about how Suck for Luck was the right way to go.
I’ll keep rooting for my team to win every single week.
Kevin Nogle - January 6, 2012
this^^^^^^^
wild zion beaver - January 6, 2012
I herd durring that the whole NFL was not wanting to play the Miami Dolphins!
If we can comand those reviews !
wild zion beaver - January 6, 2012
I laugh at you for other reason. With that I of course agree 100%!
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
you must belive!
wild zion beaver - January 6, 2012
That's not what I said
I said that I laugh at fans who cheer for wins and then cannot understand why a guy like Jeff Fisher doesn’t want to come here.
Look, I cheered for the wins and I was happy to get them. i was never on the Suck for Luck bandwagon. I but also understand that winning 6 games and taking ourselves out of the QB race is exactly why guys like Cowher and Fisher don’t want to come here. They aren’t going to risk their legacies by coming here to coach Matt Moore and some new RT. They would risk it for Luck or Griffin or someone like that.
So I find if humorous that people can’t understand why Fisher doesn’t want to come here. They think this job is so high profile and glamorous, but the truth is this is a 6-10 team with no QB and no real direction. That doesn’t entice any big name coach.
The Earl - January 6, 2012
Great explanation!
wild zion beaver - January 6, 2012
Who says Fisher doesn't want to come here?
If he didn’t want to come here, he would already be in St. Louis. I think the longer he takes to decide, the better it is for Miami. He is really considering it.
And, are you sure that Bradford is the QB he wants? If it’s all about being able to get the next great QB, wouldn’t the Rams not be the place to go, because they have a QB in place?
Kevin Nogle - January 6, 2012
Logic dictates yes but to rezerect ateam isthe spice of life!
wild zion beaver - January 6, 2012
For what its worth-
texascowpunk - January 6, 2012
He may still want to come here
But the fact he is having to choose between us and STL says that he doesn’t consider this position that much greater than STL. Personally, I believe that we are in a better place to make a playoff run than STL. I think we are only a piece or two away from being a contender. I believe that STL is much further away, even playing in a weaker division. But it appears that some big name coaches don’t feel that way.
The Earl - January 6, 2012
as stated earler writers were saying that we were the team to stay away from how can we comand so much respct!
wild zion beaver - January 6, 2012
It could also say that the Rams COO is Fisher's agent's son.
And, he would be comfortable working with that family.
Kevin Nogle - January 7, 2012
Either way....
The more I look into Philbin, the more I think the Dolphins may have found their coach. If Fisher turns us down, I would not be surprised to hear that the Dolphins go after Philbin – although no agreement can be made until the Packers are out of the playoffs.
Kevin Nogle - January 7, 2012
I agree with Philbin
and sorry for my rant. I stepped over a line.
