SB Nation has put out its most recent 2012 NFL Mock Draft today, with a new trading partner moving up to take the St. Louis Rams' second overall pick, and land Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III. Unfortunately for us as fans of the Miami Dolphins, Ryan van Bibber doesn't see it being Miami working the deal with St. Louis.
Instead, van Bibber has the Washington Redskins making the move up to that second overall spot.
"Washington could be a suitor for Peyton Manning, but that's a lot of risk for all involved. Instead, the Redskins swing a deal with the Rams, giving St. Louis a pair of first round draft picks (and more) for the rights to RG3."
Instead, with the ninth overall pick, van Bibber see the Dolphins taking Riley Reiff, the offensive tackle from Iowa. Of the pick, van Bibber writes:
"The Dolphins need another offensive tackle. Jake Long has dealt with a cascade of injuries over the last season and a half, culminating in a torn bicep. Reiff upgrades the right tackle spot, but he also offers some insurance for Long."
To see the rest of the picks, head over to SB Nation's 2012 NFL Mock Draft. To keep up with all of the draft news, you can head over to Mocking the Draft.

I'm not sure if it's just me....
but doesn’t it seem like Miami has the best media spinning advantage ever? We’ve done nothing but pick O linemen in the first roun so EVERYONE THINKS we are definitely going to draft Riley Reiff when instead I’m sure Ireland and Philbin are planning a sneak attack to inject some much needed energy into the fan base!

Oh so because he wasn't voted in this year, he sucks now.
That makes sense.

Riley Reiff
if currently the front runner for the Dolphins first round draft choice. In fact, he is soooo certain that has already come picked out a house and told his agent to inform other clubs he is not entertaining their offer.

In order to convince Peyton to move here,
I think we have to promise him that we will draft a Tackle high. He is going to be concerned about his health, as should we. The only way I see us passing on a Tackle is if Blackmon somehow falls and then we trade up from the 2nd round if another good Tackle falls.

Anyoneelse think RGIII need to shave off the skinny stache?
The goatee is fine, just ditch the stache

NO way that Ireland picks a RT with the 8th or 9th pick in the draft...
His security detail is not good enough to endure that kind of a pick… Ireland isn’t dumb either … he knows that RT is not our biggest need at this point and he knows he can not pick another RT this year no matter what. He is going to go with either a QB(if he can move up) OR a playmaking WR(if Blackmon is available), OR a freak of nature OLB… The only other value there at that pick is if there is a NT that just dominates and we think can shut down the middle of our defense. John Jerry is plenty talented enough to lock down the RT position for us this year, provided we get the right signal caller back there to make it worth protecting him. If we don’t have a QB, there is no way we pour more draft picks into a O-lineman… The fans would string Ireland up if he made that pick… and they know they need to make a pick to put fans in the seats… they are not stupid. I am sure Ross has conveyed this to Ireland as well.

RT is the Phins biggest need
But necessarily the most important. There’s a difference.
Drumzan - January 31, 2012
No QB is our biggest need ...
It is also the most important need. RT can be filled by John Jerry who did a pretty darn good job at LT the last 2 games of the season that we were missing Jake Long. A move to RT would be exactly what we needed from him. RT is not our biggest need … it is not even our 2nd biggest or 3rd biggest need.
Our biggest needs in order would be:
1.) QB
2.) NT
3.) OLB/DE(depending on the scheme we are running at the time.)
Given the value of those positions, however, if there is not that dominant NT at 8, we need to go:
1.) QB
2.) OLB/DE
3.) NT
Jason Scott_90 - January 31, 2012
If we go after Peyton Manning,
I guarantee we go Tackle unless Blackmon falls. If we don’t get Peyton, we will go after Coples first, tackle second.
joel311 - January 31, 2012
personally i think that no has a clue what the phins are going to do in the draft till we see how FA sahpes up and what our new HC has to say about what he thinks our greatest needs are on the team.. i dont it is like no one is considering what kinda input philbin wil have on our darft and FA for that matter.
as my great grand pappy use to say: to a truely starving man even a three week old road kill racoon would suddenly be consider food that it would not have been those same three weeks ago.
animal2020 - January 30, 2012
I don't think its ok to hand a team your two entire draft picks too also move up in a draft to pick a winner such as A Luck but maybe 6 six top picks 1,2,3. two years in a row!
wild zion beaver - January 30, 2012
I think I showed a while back we would have been better off giving up 5 entire drafts to draft Manning...
even though we already had Marino at that point … none of our drafts back then turned into anyone nearly as valuable as Manning has been to his team. If the guy is as good as Manning has been and you believe in him, trade whatever you need to go get the guy… You are not mortgaging your future… you are locking up the future….
Jason Scott_90 - January 30, 2012
Your only mortgaging your future when your wrong.
;)

wild zion beaver - January 30, 2012
I'd be surprised if they took a RT
It just seems the new coaches and Dolphins’ brass are spinning the team as a new and exciting team. A right tackle doesn’t seem to fit that mold. Unless you pick up Peyton Manning, then let Murtha, Jerry and some late round draft pick or FA compete for the spot.
My money is on someone to play opposite Wake though.
phinsatx - January 30, 2012
I'd rather a RT than a kick returner with a good family...

point taken... you get a REC sir....

My wish list for first round
No it’s not RG3! He won’t be around when we pick. So I’ve picked from guys that will most likely be available at #8 or 9. I’d much rather a ‘compliment’ to our studs. Michael Floyd would be great across from The Beast. Quinton Coples or Courtney Upshaw can have meetings at the QB with Wake. Dre Kirkpatrick/Stephon Gilmore/Janoris Jenkins would give us a one heck of a combo at cornerback paired with Vontae. Get your RT in the second or third round.
dohboy24 - January 31, 2012
dont bet against a change in trend in the NFL
Those who move ahead of the inflection points will be rewarded more than those who wait to be sure that is the case. The running QB has begun to make an impact in the league in the persons of Tim Tebow and Cam Newton, who is to say there wont be more coming,if I was GM I would get Manning 1st and a young QB in the draft 2nd option trade up in the draft to get RG.I wouldnt bank on Flynn on two starts in the league.
broxtone - January 31, 2012
Rec'd for using inflection points.
2nd derivative ftw
joel311 - January 31, 2012
I have been saying this for weeks.
everyone has such a hard on for pocket passers exclusively. The reason RGIII will be special is he can sit in the pocket. He can also pass on the run. He also has the speed and ability to run (planned or improvised) that will cause defenses to have to plan for him.
Running QBs even the field because offensively, you can no longer ignore him in a body on body count. That will open up the field, one less double team because now you have to spy him. Imagine coupling that with a scary Monster WR (Marshall), an elusive Weapon of Fast Destruction (Bush) and a field stretcher (Gates). There is no way to cover ALL of them and rely on double teams to shut one down because then the QB will hurt you.
PhinNomenol! - January 31, 2012 via Android app
I really want to trade back into the first for Dwayne Allen.
joel311 - January 31, 2012
I dont think he makes it into the second
