The Sugar Bowl takes center stage tonight, as the #13 Michigan Wolverines take on the #11 Virginia Tech Hokies. Both teams come into the game with stingy defenses, with VT being one of the top units in the country.
Facing that Hokie defense will be the twin 1,000 yard rushers of Michigan, quarterback Denard Robinson and running back Fitzgerald Toussaint.
VT comes in to the game as the first ACC team to make a BCS Bowl game as an at-large bid, but it doesn't come without controversy. Both teams were selected by the Sugar Bowl ahead of higher ranked teams like #7 Arkansas, #8 Boise State and #11 Kansas State.
But either way, a Michigan/Virginia Tech Sugar Bowl should be a good contest.

Jeff Fisher has had many losing seasons as a Head Coach. We want WINNERS like Cowher, Gruden, and Billick.. Oh, what’s that? A HC never won a Super Bowl with 2 teams so we don’t want THEM either. Hmph. Ok so we want someone in the middle, a pretty good coach but not good enough to win it all..Aka mediocre. Just like this franchise has been for the last few decades.. Well it has always been a fact that FO's that know one another tend to make more favorable trades.
Not that there will not be bidding for the pick but all things equal it will make it be an easier deal to make for someone that already has a relationship of some sort.

An elite QB away from a Super Bowl. In a weak NFC West. Now I agree it’s better to win it in a tough division for a challenge, which is why I scoff at head coaches that look for a team with a QB and great team ALREADY in place for them.

My deal is that free agent pass rushers are expensive
Free agent right tackles aren’t as expensive. Misi is not a good pass rusher and Wake is all we have. Odrick pitched in and picked up 6 sacks, but I don’t know if he can consistently rush the passer without outside help. Since my scenario didn’t include a QB, getting 2 potential studs at pass rusher makes our defense very tough. My favorite pick is Green. He’s EXACTLY what we need at TE.

And while we need a safety, I still think Clemons and Jones can play effectively. Plus with Wake, Mercilus, and Curry getting to the QB, they won’t as big a liability. It’s like the anti-Ryan defense. He has good corners and lots of blitzes. We would be dangerous pass rush and easier coverage. Our zone might actually work if we could get to the passer.

I just don’t think he had the energy or desire to do the scouting and researching necessary to draft guys, especially the obscure ones we ended up with. I think he guided Jeff, but Ireland was making the calls.

I think Bill didn’t have the desire to scout anymore, so he trusted his gut feeling. Looked at a little tape, the measurables at the combine, and made picks based on that.
I’m sure Jeff had say in it, but in the end, I think it was Bill’s call.
Same reason why Sparano said at the start of the season that he was happy that they finally had speed, and that he had wanted to get speed on the team for a while. Speed is not a Parcells concern.

I think Bill had final say, but I’m not sure he vetoed Jeff with a lot of things. The Pat White move really screams Ireland because it doesn’t fit at all with Parcells history or style. Neither did the Vontae pick I don’t think, because he wasn’t highly praised by his coaches, and he wasn’t a team captain, something Parcells always valued really high in the first round

It was the Countdown Clock
Something got jacked up in the HTML code for it somehow. When I moved the Twitter feed to the right side, the countdown clock ate the site.
Everything was stuffed into the left hand sidebar.
I pulled the countdown clock off the site really fast, and it fixed it.
Redid the HTML on the clock and it’s back up now.
It was strange.
