Miami Dolphins Complete Interview With Jeff Fisher

The Miami Dolphins on Tuesday interviewed former Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher to fill the same position in South Florida. Fisher arrived at the Dolphins facility on Stephen Ross' helicopter early on Tuesday morning, and was accompanied by Ross and not employed by the Dolphins Carl Peterson.

The Dolphins are believed to have Fisher as their top choice for the vacant head coach, but will have to compete against several other teams to land the coach. Seen as the hottest candidate around the league, Fisher is expected to interview next with the St. Louis Rams, and has been linked to the San Diego Chargers as well, despite the Chargers having not yet fired current coach Norv Turner.

The Dolphins coaching position is not seen as a top destination, thanks in large part to the instability in its coaching position. Whomever becomes the next coach of the Dolphins will be the team's tenth head coach, and their eighth since 1996. Since 2000, the average length of a coach's tenure in Miami has been two years.

Ross is thought to desire a coach with NFL experience, and would draw fans to the stadium. He is said to be willing to pay top dollar to a coach.

Fisher left the Dolphins' complex mid-afternoon today, again via Ross' helicopter. The Dolphins confirmed Fisher's visit following his departure.

The waiting game!
If we were settled at the QB position would he have signed today?

I see him doing several interviews to push his stock up….why not he is currently in demand!

Why would he want to live in St. Louis when he could live in Miami!

Choose us Fisher!

Yes!

I would love Jeff Fisher and his mustache to coach the Dolphins!

who wants a mustache ride?
His mustache could be the new offensive coordinator.
I DO! I DO!
You would....
Its a line from Super Troopers. I know they don't have movies up in Utah yet.
you mean those pictures on the box in the JC Penny?
Do they have JC Pennys? I am sure they have Walmart, unfortunately.
You should come up. I'll show you around.......

…. the basement.

The Rams' Chief Operating Officer is the brother of Fisher's agent....

Just saying.

That's definitely an edge!
choose St. Louis please Fisher.

You have Bradford, Jackson, and a 4-3 Defense already in place.
Fisher is tough, but he’s not for Miami.
Ok Fisher to the Rams. Not the fishies.
Whew! Claps hands, and moves on. NEXT?

So boring

I dont know how someone with as little success as fisher is a top coach. After 15+ years at Tennessee he barely had any playoff wins.

At Last... an objective Dolphins Fan!

Couldn’t agree more. PLEASE, Mr. Ross, reference:

Jeff Fisher was a head coach for 1 partial seasons & 16 full seasons.
Jeff Fisher coached his team to an AMAZING 4 consevutive losing seasons, when hired.
Jeff Fisher had an ASTOUNDING 6 winning seasons in seventeen fucking years!
Jeff Fisher had an UNHEARD OF 4 division championships in 17 years.
Of his 6 playoff seasons out of 17 years with the same team, he went “One & Done,” 3 times,
1 and 1 twice, and one losing SB appearance.

The only thing Jeff Fisher had that Tony Sparano lacked was stability, support, and time to do his job. Please, look at & weigh Sparano’s first 4 seasons with Fishers. You will puke your guts out.

Go to same website and look at Cowher, Gruden, Billick, and all these retreads & drop outs. It took Cowher what 15 years to win 1 SB, had an 8 & 8 season following & ran with the money to CBS, before his “Legacy” was tarnished. GET REAL, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Tony Sparano was JUST GETTING IT GOING. We ran the best coach for this team out of town. What are all of you instant gratification two pum chumps gonna do when Fisher has 3 or 4 straight losing seasons IN MIAMI? He ain’t no upgrade. And, um…. how’d he do with grooming young quatrerbacks?

All of these guys are flawed

So many people want the “chin,” but you pointed out some facts, and you didn’t even mention how many times his team had homefield through the playoffs only to choke. C’mon – they let Stan freakin Humphries beat them in 1994 to go to the Super Bowl…IN PITTSBURGH! His teams dramatically underperformed in the playoffs, and we’re talking about dominance in a division with the then-hapless Browns, Bungles, and inconsistent Ravens.

With Fisher, at least I can say he had to work for that miserable/cheap bastard, Bud Adams, which made luring top talent difficult. It’s not like big-name free agents were clamoring to go to Nashville. Plus, he kept that team stable as they moved from Houston to Tennessee, which couldn’t be easy. I know he’s no Lombardi, but I think he deserves some credit despite his well-publicised shortcomings.

my g/f's former boss ia friend of Fisher's..it would help me land tickets!!..
Man that was a quick visit!

I can see him going to the Rams. They already have a quarterback, have tonnes of salary cap space and may even get a few more picks from a team that wants Griffin. At this stage I’d say the Rams would be the better destination.

san diego is out they say norv is returning
But the Colts could be in play...

Fisher doesn’t like the bright lights or beaches. He likes the quiet life. He spends a lot of his time in a log cabin in Montana. Unless he’s in love with Griffin and Ross tells him he can go get him, I don’t think it’ll happen.

He's going to the RAMS most likely

Prob just using Miami as leverage for more money.

Coaches

My top 3 choices are : 1) Bill Cowher 2) Steve Mariucci 3) Brian Billick.

Why Fisher or Cowher?

Why not go for an offensive minded coach? Does it even make that big a difference if a coach is defensive minded or O minded?

I don't think it does matter

Billick came out of Minnesota billed as an “offensive genius,” but is was Baltimore’s defense that won them a Super Bowl. In fact, I can’t think of any of Billick’s teams having a really good offense, and he DID invest in his franchise QB, Kyle Boller. Billick really liked that whole “he can throw a forty yard pass from his knees” thing.

Marx is available now btw...

**Correction meant Martz!

Has Mariucci even mentioned being available?

I hadn’t heard he was.

Yes

Mariucci and Billick both stated a few weeks ago that they would listen to any offers sent their way. I was watching NFL Total Access when they were asked about it.

They need to go for the guy with the aura.

Mike Tomlin did that in the Dolphins interview in 2007. He wowed Huizenga. But Huizenga went for the offensive coordinator the fans craved. Look what happened. Go for the guy that gives one heck of an interview. If he bowls you over in the interview, he will likely bowl the players over in the locker room. Only Ross, Peterson and Ireland will know who that guy is.

"Bowling people over"...

Interesting choice of words. ( Todd Bowles)

Tomlin is my favorite coach

Id love to get a guy with that kind of passion/drive/occasional rage.

Can someone please tell me why the hell Fisher is a top candidate?

Please no sarcasm..

Mustache...
That's the only logical reason I see
I think it's based on who else is available

Not a banner year for ex-coaches looking for work

NEEEEXXXXXXTTTTTTTTTT
No thanks

6 winning seasons in 17 years as head coach screams mediocrity.. Same thing we’ve had here for a decade. If he’s hired, prepare for more of the same from the dolphins

No doubt Nick...

… no doubt.
