The AFC won the 2012 Pro Bowl tonight, 59-41. Offenses were dealing tonight, with the AFC finishing the game with 598 yards of total offense and the NFC with 546 yards. But, the story of the game was clearly Pro Bowl MVP Brandon Marshall. Marshall finished the game with six catches for 176 yards, and four touchdowns.
It will be great to see what Marshall can do next year in a West Coast offense and with an upgrade at quarterback - however the Dolphins end up doing that.
Congrats to Marshall!

wow... congrats BMarsh...
Get this guy a franchise QB that knows how to throw the ball in the right place…
Jason Scott_90 - January 29, 2012
All he did was prase the QB's for there ball posision!
wild zion beaver - January 29, 2012
They had good placement...
You have to know how to throw the ball to a big WR… I am just telling you what Michael Irvin said about Brandon Marshall earlier this season about his drops. They need to throw the ball at his body. I thought it was weird when I heard it, because it goes against everything you are taught since Pop Warner, but he is in the hall of fame, and I am not. It actually makes a lot of sense. If someone is trying to knock the ball out of your hands, where do you think the safest place to catch the ball is? Away from your body, or against your body?
Jason Scott_90 - January 29, 2012
His hands just got better as the game went on!
wild zion beaver - January 29, 2012
He made the point earlier in the week....
Of all the WRs in the AFC… Every other WR or TE had a QB in the Pro Bowl… he is the only WR or TE without his QB in the Pro Bowl…
-A.J. Green, Cincinnati
-Mike Wallace, Pittsburgh
Brandon Marshall, Miami
y-Vincent Jackson, San Diego
z-Wes Welker, New England
Tight end
*-Antonio Gates, San Diego
y-Jermaine Gresham, Cincinnati
z-Rob Gronkowski, New England
Jason Scott_90 - January 29, 2012
Indeed & nice catch!
wild zion beaver - January 29, 2012
Also... not sure if anyone noticed...
But each QB favored their own receivers on both the AFC and NFC… because of the natural chemistry they had developed….. the only exception was Marshall… once they threw it to him … they kept going back to him…
Jason Scott_90 - January 29, 2012
espicaly early on except for marshall!
wild zion beaver - January 29, 2012
At this point
McNabb would be an upgrade.

2012: Year of the Dolphin
New Coach, New QB, hopefully new uniforms. I can’t wait to see the Dolphins finally break out of the basement of the AFC East

Nope. I would rather see throwbacks. Might as well dress like the perfect team.
TheFinReaper - January 29, 2012
Sure
Might as well bring back the single bar facemask too..
We need a new look. The logo is so 70s, the uniforms are boring. Tradition is nice, but our tradition for the last decade has been losing. Time to upgrade.

That is what everyone says when they are getting the crap beat out of them, and the game doesn’t count. I saw some of it out there at the beginning of the game.. people were playing sloppy. But when someone lines up against you to try to beat you, you can’t just turn it off and let them get by you… If you are made up like that, you never make it to the NFL.
Jason Scott_90 - January 30, 2012
Totally true....
From the highlights I’ve seen (I never watch that atrocity anymore), it appeared as all the linemen thought the snap of the ball meant it was nap time.

wild zion beaver - January 29, 2012
Nah. No one really knows.
I prefer Tannehill….
Alpha6 - January 29, 2012
six weeks into the season you were crying inharmony chant sux for luk!
wild zion beaver - January 29, 2012
Nope. Not me.
I feel Luck is best option, but is unattainable.
RGII too, but also out of reach.
Tannehill is reachable and best option in draft.
Drafting a QB is best option I think.
Flynn is an unknown.
Alpha6 - January 29, 2012
And Tannehill isn’t?
TheFinReaper - January 29, 2012
Flynn is a backup for a reason.
Peyton would be best if healthy.
A rookie is best if the team is gonna develop a QB….
Alpha6 - January 29, 2012
pure weekness is all around!
wild zion beaver - January 29, 2012
... at least unknowns....
Alpha6 - January 29, 2012
yes & this !
wild zion beaver - January 30, 2012
Isn’t that reason Aaron Rodgers?
TheFinReaper - January 29, 2012
With a Brett Favre, yes... but he was also a first rounder.
Alpha6 - January 29, 2012
No I mean, Rodgers is the starter so Flynn is the backup and what does it matter what round he was drafted in? You either have it or you don't..
TheFinReaper - January 30, 2012
Well, most QB's taken in the first round have a higher percentage of success than those in later rounds... (Pat White, Chad Henne, etc.)
Later rounds is usually for insurance not franchise.
Alpha6 - January 30, 2012
Well just give me a few tinkers & i'll be happy!
wild zion beaver - January 30, 2012
But he was disputing your point that he was a back up for a reason and his point was
that he is a back up because their starter is arguably the best QB in the NFL right now. No one knows what he can do as a starter in the NFL nor do we know about any of the possible draftees.
texascowpunk - January 30, 2012
Flynn
is a backup, true.
He was taken in a later round, yes.
Flynn is also backup on a superbowl winning team with a franchise, MVP and elite QB in front of him. In addition to that, he beat out a SECOND round pick (same round as Tennahill) to get to the #2 spot in depth chart. That should show you he has talent.
PhinNomenol! - January 30, 2012 via Android app
^^^THIS^^^
TheFinReaper - January 30, 2012
I don't think Tannehill will get out of the first round
Flynn lacks the ideal tools. Think AJ Feely, Sage Rossenfelds and Scott Mitchell.
Especially Scott Mitchell. He was behind Dan Marino. Detroit lost their ass on that one.
Alpha6 - January 30, 2012

Alpha6 - January 30, 2012
congrats to Marshall
But come on this is a glorified exibition game. When the dolphins are close to the goalline in the red zone,I dont understand how throwing the ball to his body would make it easier in that
reduced area of the field. That was one of the reasons the Dolphins aquired Marshall to score tds,he had 10 the year before in Denver. Now iif someone would say they are not using him properly in the red zone, much like what occurred with Reggie Bush and his use,I find that more believable. Now when there is a full field throwing to his body is very believable, after who am I to say.
broxtone - January 30, 2012
Marshall has never been a TD machine
Those 10 TD’s year taking about only happened once.I t was the only time he reached double digits. His 6 TD’s this season is slightly above his career average of 5.6. Marshall TD’s since he’s been in the league(2,7,6,10,3 and 6). Now I’m not saying he can’t be a great scoring. He just hasn’t been. Brandon has caught alot a balls for alot of yards, but not alot of TD’s.
NawlinsPhinFan - January 30, 2012
Nice job Marshall
Now do that in the regular season.
Briceratops - January 30, 2012
which do you prefer
Flynn to fins or Pay-a-ton for Manning
broxtone - January 30, 2012
To the Nay Sayers
I’ve said it from day one that brandon is definitely a top 5 Reciever. It could have been a biased view seeing as he’s been my favorite Reciever since his days in denver, however tonight proved my statement. I don’t want flynn I feel he doesn’t stick the ball in places, he has a bit too much velocity on the ball and tends to get his success from bubble screens and 2yard dump offs. However brandon is the perfect guy to be jumping up taking balls away from defenders and using that enormous 6’4 230pound frame to box out defenders. Either way Philbin has seen a glimpse and Ireland is laughing at all of you that said his Trade of two 2nd rounders was a mistake. Ahhhhhh a pro bowl MVP who in both seasons has eclipsed a 1,000+ yards with mediocre play at QB hmm ill take that ANY day of the week! Brandon do us all a favor and stay here be like calvin johnson and help build a tradition rather than flee elsewhere. You will soon get what you want as will we a franchise quarterback that will get you your 1500yard season with double digit touchdowns. It is only a matter of time my new slogan “In IRELAND we TRUST!”
chad6 - January 30, 2012 via mobile
yeah dude its all about
the new gloves they have a more secure glue like substance that is until the NFL bans their use in the regular season.
broxtone - January 30, 2012
Yeah Ireland wont cause any
fans to shell out $1500 of their beer money to pay a cropduster to fly a banner over the stadium seeking his ouster.
broxtone - January 30, 2012
audition to bring in his QB?
thanksboo - January 30, 2012
If I had a vote it would be
A starting veteran all pro over a back up who had two good games, one of them the last game of the year(was the opposing team playing for something)Peyton over Flnnn by a landslide and get two picks in the 1st round and draft a rookie QB in the 1st round this time.
broxtone - January 30, 2012
That’s a pretty damn good idea.
Guess Who's Back? - January 30, 2012
so the final vote would be for Peyton
To school the rookie right out of college,I think it is very probable that they end up with a better young QB in their system that will be more productive than Flynn, but hey what do I know.
broxtone - January 30, 2012
will see if Ireland can execute THIS
offseason, coaches need players to win thats why the Miami Heat are content to let Riley sit in the stands and let young coach Spoelstra take the reins.BTW Riley is VP or President so I think he could take over.
broxtone - January 30, 2012
The Heat are not winning because of Spoelstra
They are winning because they have three of the NBAs most talented players. It’s all about talent in the NBA.
Guess Who's Back? - January 30, 2012
A Dream
Lobbying for Luck sell the house! We have the ELITE Reciever. Have a running back that has turned heads and is a force to be reckoned with. Have a sure handed slot Reciever in Davon Bess. A mismatch nightmare H-Back in Charles Clay. A pro bowl caliber center. A solid left guard in Incognito. And arguably the nest Left Tackle in the game. Our defense is young and fiery and with the addition of Croyle who is a turnovers GURU will only put up an even better unit. Get Luck the surest thing in the past decade and let’s start being in the talk for 1st place in the AFC east will go toe to toe with New England year in and year out with mediocre QB play imagine with a guy that can really wing it.
chad6 - January 30, 2012 via mobile

Interesting how Brandon Marshall...
gave credit to Sparano and then to the “elite” QB’s (BigBen, Rivers, Dalton).
Good Job Brandon Marshall, way to put the Fins on the front page for once, even if its brief.
Bill Moody - January 30, 2012
Hopefully B-Marsh's game wasn't lost on Ireland
Flynn or Manning, then draft Tannehill. BM needs one of these guys. Go buy one Jeff!
CanT0o - January 30, 2012
Hopefully this helps bring back the beast. He had a lot of drops in the endzone for us last year. Let’s not make any b.s. excuses for the ones that hit him square in the hands. Congrats Marshall.
54 - January 30, 2012 via mobile
Great.
NFL’s version of flag football.
Congrats to all the pro bowlers but this game’s a waste of time.
Tunaflipper - January 30, 2012
Its amazing what Brandon Marshall can really do with a real QB throwing him the ball...... And no one really playing any defense.
Did he have any multi-TD games during the regular season?
JP 23 - January 30, 2012
Also, WHY THE HELL WAS PHILLIP RIVERS IN THE PRO BOWL THIS SEASON???
He had the worst season of his career. He didn’t deserve to be there! He’s one of the best in the league, but even he knows he shouldn’t have been voted into the Pro Bowl this year.
JP 23 - January 30, 2012
Guys get voted on on reputation. It just is what it is and will always be that way. No reason to fret over it when the game
is meaningless anyhow. If a guy deserves to be there and is for real he will get his chance.
