All signs seem to point to today being the day that the Miami Dolphins determine their next head coach. Overnight, Todd Bowles was apparently ruled out of the position, leaving just Mike McCoy from the Denver Broncos and Joe Philbin from the Green Bay Packers as the possible choices.
As the rumors continue to come out before the official announcement, keep track of and post all the news here.

I kinda had a feeling about that
when McCoy removed himself/canceled his interview with the Raiders.
Anyone else nervous about McCoy? I’ll admit that I am.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Yeah,
I’m not a huge fan of his work in Carolina, but he did well with Orton in 2010 and changed the offense to suit his QB in 2011, so I am keeping an open mind.
joel311 - January 20, 2012
Nervous about anyone, really
It’s not like we have done well with coachs since Shula retired. Some have been better than others but none were great.
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
No. He is well thought of around the league and quite a few think he is ready for the next step.
The fact that he is not a big name should not be what Phins fans focus on.

Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
I’m very skeptical of McCoy; however what concerns me more then anything is what type of a staff can he put together. If he can surround himself with good coaches then it makes the hire a little less scary for the Dolphins. At this point we can only cross our fingers and hope he becomes a good hire.
mr1313 - January 20, 2012
Each coach brings his own GM so i'm not to uppidy!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
Not usually. It is usually the other way around.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Omar pointed out he can bring Del Rio in as DC
you are right a coach is only as good as its coaching staff, but the Big question we should be asking our selves goes as follows Is this the real McCoy? lol i happen to think so apart from stats and the whole 9 yrds he has akey trait that differentiates the good from the great, something that none of the coaches we have had since Shula posses and that is the ability to adjust to his players strengths. he did a lot with very little in other words he maximized his players potential and put constantly put them in a position to win.
finfan11 - January 20, 2012
Idk why,
But i have the feeling that today, we find the true successor to don shula. I feel like the coach we get today will be the right coach, the coach that brings the lombardi back to miami.
AnishB15 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
As long as it is one that starts winning early in the season!
Opps srry anish!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012

Now that that corny crap is outta the way…..what did I miss?
tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012
Philbins out of the picture (according to armando, take that as you wish)
Its down to mccoy, and maybe some surprise candidate no ones heard of. It should be decided today and they are probably negotiating contract as we speak.
AnishB15 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
Nice
I have to admit I’m at the point where no one really impresses me just looking at their resume. However, I’m going to be estatic…I might even take off of work early today….if we finally get a HC. I know that sounds sad, but it would be nice to have some stability.
tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012
X's and O's are overrated to some degree. Does the guy have that aura? Is he a leader?
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
if is aura isnt orange and teal
than he can move along
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
I think he's the guy. McCoy that is.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
But Armando updated that post to say that someone else said that that isn't true
We’ll probably be chasing rumors all day
Again….
Red Dog - January 20, 2012
Isint that the name of a urinal?
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
it is McCoy...
My buddy from skinnypost.com text me this morning, and he told me Vontae Davis text him that tomorrow, the whole world will know who our next coach will be. He is certain it will be McCoy. This is the same guy that gave me the info about the Brandon Marshall trade hours before it went down. The Real McCoy in South Beach.

McCoy: dammit Jim, I’m a coach not a go-for
ROSS: …… who is Jim?
IRELAND: So Mike…. is your mom
McCoy: Finish that sentence, Jeff, and I’m whooping your a$$!
PhinNomenol! - January 20, 2012 via Android app
No, if that's the case we should call him "Bones"
Hollywood67 - January 20, 2012
Gotta admit, I do like our options here
It would be great if Bowles became DC if he doesn’t get the HC position.
When you look a little deeper at these guys, it makes me wonder why we even entertained the thought of Fisher. But with his experience and name recognition, I can see why. I’m very happy that didn’t work out.
All in all I could see Bowles having great success (even though most of us want an offensive mind as HC) simply because he’s got real NFL experience, and the players might respect him more for it………..
Red Dog - January 20, 2012
There wood be little Going on as we wood pile all our dibeleifs on a name after the first 2 weeks!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
Just think....
Once we get our new HC, then it’ll be a wait for us when looking for a new DC,….abnd possibly a OC.
tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012
If it is McCoy
Del Rio may be our DC, friends and neighbors. I read that the other day, somewhere.

Kdog92 - January 20, 2012
Confused
I am wondering why Ross didn’t go after Billick. He said he wanted a big name with experience, well at least Billick won a Super Bowl as opposed to Fisher in less time. He led both prolific offense (Minnesota) and defense (Baltimore). That shows good coaching on both sides of the ball. I know he had talented players but you still need the right coach. Just ask the Bulls and Lakers about Phil Jackson !
miamimike71 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
billick is arrogant
Kdog92 - January 20, 2012
zz top yur back to early!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
Is he arrogant,
or just confident because he knows what he’s talking about and other people aren’t ready to accept it?
joel311 - January 20, 2012
Wtf...
Internets fail.
I said “Is he arrogant, or just confident that he knows what he is doing and everybody else can’t accept that he knows more.” Or something like that
joel311 - January 20, 2012
Most successful
Players or coaches are arrogant. I would rather have an arrogant winner than a humble loser .
miamimike71 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
Is there still that chance!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
From what Ive read, both comments on here and the media....
Billick is arroggant and a lot of FO’s have suggested against him…..speaking anon ofc
tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012
One more note....
Also Billick stated publicly that he would love this job if offered given our talent level.

Resounding endorcment!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012

joel311 - January 20, 2012

tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012
Did somebody say bacon fat?
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Oh dude...
I once threw out a small can that had bacon fat in it that the wifey was saving….I got in trouble and she STILL doesnt let me hear the end of it. Not to mention she told her Memaw on me, who taught her how to cook.
Im surprised I didn’t have bruises from the wooden spoon beatings I took…lolol

DolphinNation - January 20, 2012

tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012
Well, speaking of cooking
I’m going to cook up a nice batch of chili this weekend. Something about hot chili on a freezing cold Sunday and watch football that just sounds, well, it just sounds like everything is right in the world.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
mmmmmmmmmm
I love making chili. Chili, Beef Stew, and Salsa are the three things that my wife doesnt cook, because she’s tried making them…and mine are way better then anything she could make…lol.
I agree with you about cold weather, chili, and football. It goes together just as well as sitting at the beach, drinkin a corona, and watching hot young women frolic about….lol

tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012

It’s a spring roll. Who am I to argue?
NJ13 - January 20, 2012
McCoy + Mediocre
I can’t help but thinking we’ll be in another 2-3 year stretch of ‘almost’ football, then searching for another HC..
I love my Phins, but damn depressing right now… Where’s a real owner like Mr. Robbie when you need him?
Pianomanzz - January 20, 2012
Everyone disliked Robbie too
He was booed every time he was introduced in the stadium….including after he built the (then) new stadium. Tough being an owner of a NFL franchise…..
FinsSince70 - January 20, 2012
I loved him.. but I guess your right, can't please everyone..
Pianomanzz - January 20, 2012
I didn't understand it at the time
Eventually I realized that’s part of the deal….your fans dislike you as the owner. Bet they would get booed even after winning a championship. People would say they won DESPITE them not because of them lol
FinsSince70 - January 20, 2012
Ross is doing it right this time
McCoy may or may not work out but labeling him as a bust before he even starts is just as bad as saying he will lead us to the Super Bowl for the next 3 years.
Bottom line is no one knows for certain how he’ll be and unless your name is Stephen Ross no one else knows for certain how the interviews went.
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
McCoy better have him one hell of a coaching staff.
Who the hell is he gonna bring??
Goon305Boy10 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
As stated above, I read something about Jack Del Rio as DC. No idea who the OC will be. Hopefully he’ll retain Daboll.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Is Jack a good DC?
Goon305Boy10 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
That’s how he got his HC gig at Jville.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
So if we hire McCoy
What might that tell us about the QB situation? Any thought on what he might want to do?
NJ13 - January 20, 2012
Considering he coached Matt Moore
I have a feeling he’ll stick by him, and not go after a guy like Flynn via FA.
Under this scenario, we will draft a QB at some point in this upcoming draft…whether he trades up for RG3 or signs Tannehill or Weedon.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Seeing that Ross has stated that finding a QB is a the primary goal in the off-season I doubt the new HC is going
to stick with the guy that he just happens to know.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
When did he say that?
And didn’t he say something to that effect last year too?
joel311 - January 20, 2012
No last year he said Henne would be amazing.
One instance where he addressed the QB:
http://www.miamidolphins.com/media/videos/Stephen-Ross-Press-Conference/61363ac3-4460-457c-ad9b-600ba8ecc39e
It was the last question at about the 11:30 mark
He said finding a QB is “essential”.
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
No. Different year and different story.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
via Omar:
Jake Long pulled out of the Pro Bowl this morning due to injuries.
Finhead83 - January 20, 2012
I thought that was old news? They replaced him last week.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
I thought he was replaced by Ryan Clady??
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
Correct
That was announced on Tuesday. McGahee was named with Clady.
Finhead83 - January 20, 2012
My sources say...
tell Omar to wake me when he has news that isn’t 3 days old.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Or that we did not already know what going to happen.
Not sure why he tweets the same crap over and over in different ways either.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Happens all the time with him bro.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
He whips my ass. I keep thinking of taking him off my follow list but then he will be the one to break
something huge.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Eh…IMO, he’s about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Hey sometimes you need a nice breeze!
Red Dog - January 20, 2012
Isn't that what going commando is for??
Especially when you have a fan in the room?
tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012
I'm okay with McCoy
Coaching pedigree involves being a QB coach in addition to an OC. Philbin on the other hand climbed the ladder mainly working with the O-Line. We’ve played that game before
DC Phinnin - January 20, 2012
Anyone else have the feeling
that we’re going to need an Overflow Thread today? LOL
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Ahem....Mosul....you around buddy?....you got your finger on the trigger?
tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012
He's taking a nap
Considering he did a post at 5am, then this one at 8. We’ll have Finhead wake him up in a couple hours.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
and he was in the CKC until about 1am
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
I’m a wimp, apparently. If I don’t get 7 or 8 hours of sleep, I’m miserable.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Me too, unfortunately had 2 kids wake me up this am

Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012

DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
She left me a pot of coffee so its all good :)
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
That’s the least she could have done…lol
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
I've written this before but it should be pointed out again. He's the real McCoy
McCoy is the man for the job and here’s why:
1- Former QB. Expirence leading men. Could possiby develop a QB of the future.
2- Only candidate of the 3 who has expirience calling plays. Why is that important? Because it shows that he has expirience adjusting to a defense on the fly during a game. Say what you will about Philbin and the Packers high powered offense, but Mike McCarthy is the one calling the plays and it’s his offense.
3- What he was able to do with Tebow this season and completely change Denver’s scheme mid-season to fit Tebow’s strengths (the option) is incredible. Tebow gets all the credit, but McCoy saved Denver’s season! It shows that he is willing to adjust his scheme around his players strengths the same way Harbaugh did with Alex Smith in San Fransisco.
4- Expirience. Though he’s only 39 yrs old, he has been coaching 10+ years and has quickly risen up the coaching ranks. He has a bright future as a head coach.
I should also mention that he was OC in Denver during Kyle Orton’s 2 best years as a pro and during those 2 seasons, his offenses were ranked in the top half of the league. This season, with Tebow at QB the Broncos were #1 in the NFL in rushing and McCoy resurrected Willis McGahee’s career. And during his time in Carolina as QB coach, Jake Delhomme was putting up some of the best numbers of his professional career.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
Hmm.. Alll Good Points.
I need to stop being so pessimistic. Maybe he’s the real McCoy.. OK, I’ll give him my Benefit of the Doubt…
(now watch Ross hire Bowles…)
Pianomanzz - January 20, 2012
Yeah everyone focus' on the fact that he was not in the top 5 of offenses like GB was with Philben but he also had a
bunch of average to below average QB’s to work with. With GB he had a HOFer and a likely HOFer.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
This ^^^
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
But a HC needs to look at all aspects of the team. He can't just be coaching the QB all the time. I hope he brings a real QB coach with him too.
BahamaDolfan - January 20, 2012
The QB coach in Denver is 33 yr old Adam Gase. Wonder if McCoy will bring him along as OC, or bring someone more experienced in.
If he gets th job that is!!!
BahamaDolfan - January 20, 2012
Perhaps. Another name to consider....
Josh McDaniels FTW.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
He's at patriots, and will probs stay there.
BahamaDolfan - January 20, 2012
Or Haley?

Nice caption rec!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
As for the staff he may bring with him, I think McCoy might bring Jack Del Rio to be the Defensive coordinator.
Offensive coordinator, I’m hoping for someone with a little more experience than Adam Gase.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
I heard this Brian Daboll guy isn't bad.lol
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
I'll pass. Lol
I’m hoping Ireland doesn’t try to force staff members onto mcCoy and let’s him pick his own guys.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
He needs to be able to bring in his guys for sure.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
I hope
we keep Daboll
(caveat) as long as he can provide solid plans for TD plays within ten yards of the endzone.
PhinNomenol! - January 20, 2012 via Android app
I get that. Put I think the most important aspect of a coach is how he deals with his QB.
I think the most likely scenario we could see is McCoy brings in Kyle Orton to compete this season for the starting gig with Matt Moore, and for the Fins to draft a QB like Tannehill or Osweiler for McCoy to develop.
If anyone is hoping for a quick turnaround like we had in ‘08, don’t get your hopes up…
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
But he was OC when Tebow took over from Orton. I really doubt Orton comes. McCoy is an innovative coach.
RG3 and Tannehill would both do well under him.
BahamaDolfan - January 20, 2012
Orton was removed mostly because the fans were calling for it. But I see your point.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
Orton was removed because he was terrible.
If it were a reaction to fans, Tebow would have been starting in week 1.
PNSter - January 20, 2012
Aw hell naw!
If McCoy even utters Kyle OR Orton, I hope Ross buzzes in Lesner to bitch-slap him unconscious!

They have talked about the possibility in the future
St. Louis to London and Oakland to LA?

texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
are we playing the rams at home this season?

Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012

we are playing them in miami i think
Tison M - January 20, 2012
We will lose to them as well, if we as "a team" exspect to get the (QB Barkley) that went back to school!
I for One dont want “a surprize offence” i want (a laggit team) as long as it did not take us 6-10 years to get back to the playoffs!

Because they can sell out at London.

Marshall has said he will play
And we have Pouncey who will probably be there when.if his bother pulls out with his bum ankle.
We also, apprently, have Wake, Dansby, and Soliai as alternates. Just have to wait to see who wins on Sunday and who pulls out for injuries.
I’ll put it all together in a story later today. I just don’t want to push the live thread down yet.
Kevin Nogle - January 20, 2012

41-10 not a fan. Mike McCoy no thanks! Well if the sources are right than Ross is wrong. FUCK!
Stats407 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
Yeah.
All we have to do is replace Moore with the worst QB ever.
PNSter - January 20, 2012
My top 5 QB's in this draft.
1- Andrew Luck
2- Ryan Tannehill
3- Robert Griffin III
4- Brock Osweiler (Has potential to be the 2nd best QB in this draft)
5- Russell Wilson (2 inches taller and he’d be a 1st round pick)
McCoy could work wonders with any of these 5 guys.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
No Foles
And Tannehill over RG3. Everyone has an opinion but man
Phinsphana - January 20, 2012
I'm not very high on Foles. I base this mostly on potential.
Tannehill is 6’4 with mobility and comes from a pro style offense. He’s inexperienced but he’s got limitless potential. I like RGIII, don’t get me wrong. I just like Tannehill more. And I definitely wouldn’t give up 2-3 1st round picks for him!
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
Dude I like Brock the rock
But he is very raw and needs some time to sit and learn on the bench
Phinsphana - January 20, 2012
I agree. But there's no denying his potential. I think no matter what QB we draft (unless it's Andrew Luck), Matt Moore will be the starter next year.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
Dude I like Tannehill but over RG3??????
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Here's a vid on Tannehill this season.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Js5si7nyzSE&feature=youtube_gdata_player
He’s accurate, he reads the defense, and he’s has great footwork.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
Yeah I live in Texas. I got to see the kid play a lot. I like him just no way in hell that I take that guy over RG3 given the choice. NO WAY IN HELL!
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
^this^
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
Like said, if he falls to #9 then sure, take him. But I would not give up 2-3 1st round picks for him!
There’s other guys like Osweiler and Tannehill that we may be able to get late 1st early 2nd with more potential.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
I like RGIII, but he's nowhere near ready.
He’s not 6’2. He’s closer to 6’0 than he is 6’2. Even though he’s possibly the fast player in the draft, he’s a straight line runner. He doesn’t have the lateral quickness to beat a defender one on one like Vick has. And he doesn’t have the strength of Tebow or Newton to withstand the punishment he’ll take for running the football in the NFL. Hes going to have to learn to slide.
Griffin has a lot to learn about reading a defense and going through his progressions. If you watch tape on him, Baylor offense was pretty much dink and dunk. Screen here, wheel route there, screen again, QB designed run, screen again, then a deep ball pass. He usually had to go through just one or two progressions, and if the play wasn’t there he would take off. That won’t work in the NFL.
The one thing I will say about RGIII is that he’s accurate. He throws a nice deep ball and he can extend a play with his legs. But he’s no where near a finished product and he’s NOT Cam Newton. He won’t be able to step right in and lead an offense.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
rg3 said that he is defeinetly 6-2
he said in an interview that he would measure up for sure at the combine
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
We'll see about that. I'm very VERY skeptical.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
So you are calling Griffin a liar? That seems foolish IMO.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Everyone says they're taller than they really are! My license says I'm 5'10 but I'm really more like 5'8! LOL
So yes, I’m calling his bluff.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
That's asinine dude.
His rep is as solid as any playing coming out. NO WAY IN HELL that he lied to Dan Patrick. Your reasoning on this is so foolish its not even funny. What does he gain from “bluffing” when everyone will know the truth in a few months? Seriously what does he gain from telling a lie other then looking untrustworthy? Your argument is baseless.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
I saw the Heisman video. You're probably right. He does look tall standing next to Andrew Luck. I take it back.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
next you know...
you are going to try a triple stamp
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
Tramp Stamp?
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
Lmao! -.-
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
Height is not overly important...
As long as you have the other parts of quarterbacking down… which Griffin does.
The Earl - January 20, 2012
Large hands?
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
You know what they say about large hands...
Large gloves
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
I have giant hands. Seriously I can never find gloves to fit. Please don't tell Alpha.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
My lips are sealed.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
LOL
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
He is not what they consider ideal (6'4) but he is taller then some starting in the NFL right now.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Just look at the Heisman presentation
There is no way that Luck is 4+" taller than him and look at how much taller he is over Trent Richardson (listed at 5’11") he is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJAyor1pktM
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
griffin was wearing heels
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
Look at the video again, he's wearing stilettos!
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
with superman socks!
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
Stop it guys. The monkey is going nucking futs in the box reading this....
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
Did notice he is wearing Oxfords, they are identical to

Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
So you're both gay....
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
TWSS
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Well they were army issued
So you just called everyone in the army gay………
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
That's pretty accurate :P
tuscanitunr x2 - January 20, 2012
I was once asked if I was going to the Army Ball..
.. I replied, “the Army has no balls.”
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
not!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
Dude please do not spread rumors or flat out BS.
When asked on the Dan Patrick show Griffin stated that when measured at the combine, without shoes, he “guaranteed” that he would not only measure 6’2 but slightly over. Given that its Griffin and he stated this in no uncertain terms I think we can take this as gospel.
I watched several of his games and he is no more that then Luck or any other QB. Look at his highlight reels from just this season and there is long throw after long throw after long throw. You wont see that many in a longer season from most NFL QB’s.
You are correct. He is a more polished passer right now then Cam and about 4 times more intelligent.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
shazaam!
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
Rec'd
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Don't look at highlight reels. They are misleading. Watch the game tape.
So you expect him to be better than Cam Newton in his first season? Cause that’s what I’m gathering from what you’re saying. I’m going to hold you too that texascowpunk!
He’s book smart, but he does not have a better football IQ than Newton. And I question whether he’s more polished.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
shiny?
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
Polished knob?
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
chrome on the lips?
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
LOL
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
LOL You do that big guy.
Dude your so off. I have heard interview after interview with this kid. He is so far beyond Cam mentally its not even funny. To begin with Cam could have not even gotten in to Baylor but that’s a whole other story.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
becuase they wouldnt pay enough?
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
Interviews prove absolutely nothing. It just proves that he's more intellectual and he was brought up right.
Dude, have you ever heard Trent Richardson speak? He sounds like an idiot. But he has a very high football IQ.
Robert Griffin III could be a lawyer or a doctor if he wanted to. He’s a really smart kid. I’m not taking anything away from him. But he’s no Cam Newton.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
If you have the mental ability to become a doctor
then you can master playing quarterback.
The Earl - January 20, 2012
Is he a better prospect than Cam Newton was last year? I say no.
I would not trade the farm for RGIII. I would have been more than happy too last year for Newton. And I would for Andrew Luck.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
Agreed.
joel311 - January 20, 2012
And the same could be said about Ryan Fitzpatrick. But he's mediocre at best.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
That's not really true...
I can’t play quarterback :P Very high intelligence often leads to over-thinking and that will get you pummeled on the football field. Look at Dan the Man.
joel311 - January 20, 2012
Well in his case, he can process the information well enough
If he can handle the rigors of med school, he can learn to read defenses.
The Earl - January 20, 2012
Remember the winning play against OU?
That was called in as a spike play. He saw something in the defensive alignment of OU, called an audible, changed his protections, threw a perfect pass to win the game and won the Heisman.
You are way underestimating the kid based on ignorance. Every scout out there says he will be better then Cam and no slight towards you but their creds are a lot more solid then some college kid from Miami.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
True that. I'm no NFL scout. But I don't think I'm being ignorant. That's just my opinion. Whether scouts really do think he's better than Cam is a whole other story, but I disagree.
I think Cam Newton is the next young QB who will soon be elite. I’m not so sure Robert Griffin will be.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
Cam is good but I doubt he will ever be elite.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
when other great QB's die off (sent to pasture) alla Manning there studed out for a reason!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
Oh,
he will.
Cam and Luck and Rodgers will be on top in 10 years IMO.
joel311 - January 20, 2012
Unless you have anything to base it on
your personal belief really doesn’t mean anything.
The scouts are basing theirs on lots of scouting knowledge and research.
PNSter - January 20, 2012
Every scout?
Really Tex?
joel311 - January 20, 2012
Most every scout? All I know is I have not heard one pro scout or NFL guy say anything
but that he is going to be a star.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
There's that GIF floating around.
RGIII throws a quick pass to the slot receiver, and it careens off his helmet for another 15 or 20 yards, right into Blackmon’s hands, who takes it all the way. It’s beautiful.
PNSter - January 20, 2012
Yeah that one is one of those lucky ones.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Here's a video of Osweiler vs USC this season.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqYAUD97lRQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player
For a 6’8 QB, he sures moves well in the pocket and feels the pressure. If he can clean up those mechanics a bit, the kid has serious potential.
JP 23 - January 20, 2012
LOL That kid is huge.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Now in at QB for the Dolphins....
Shaqueeeeeeeeelle O’Neeeeeeeeeeal

I was spanking him, cause I caught him with Finhead in that autoerotic moment. He’s suppose to take the annesthesia mask off a little earlier from him. So he don’t get sick.

Red Dog - January 20, 2012
Well gotta go to work, so....... Keep me posted
Phinsphana - January 20, 2012
Word is that Philbin is interviewing with the Bucs...
i think if we decided he was the guy we would have come to an agreement already (or at least began talking about a contract), not forced him to interview with other teams. So, to me, it looks like McCoy by default. I hope there is some way they can keep Bowles as DC…
#1Heatfan - January 20, 2012
Saw that from one of Schefter’s tweets from last night (RE: Philbin). I know Clements (the Packers QB Coach) also interviewed for the HC job with the Bucs.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
didnt know about Clements...
but I think they are pretty much a package deal. Clements will just be Philbin’s OC. Maybe the Bucs we interviewing him for OC..
#1Heatfan - January 20, 2012
Not according to what I read, but who knows. It looks to me that McCoy is the guy, unless they’re really keeping another candidate under the radar. The only person we haven’t heard much about is Carmichael, so as a dark horse, maybe he’s in the mix?
That said, I highly doubt it – someone would have leaked that info by now.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
I'd be happy with anyone of these guys, but I had Philbin as my #1

Red Dog - January 20, 2012
Philbin is interviewing with the Bucs but has stated that he would take the Phins job if offered to him.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Right, but why take on an additional interview if you thought you had the job? Just sayin.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Yeah he probably knows that he does not have it.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Knowing Ross, he probably told him he was going to offer the job to McCoy, but if the contract doesn’t live up to McCoy’s expectations, he’ll call Philbin and offer. How twisted my mind is…
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Nah. They know that if they offer to McCoy he signs.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Well considering we don’t have any candidates left, if rumors are true, the offer should already be in his hands, if not accepted.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Its probably just a matter of working out all the details in the contract. Those things do not get done
in a matter of minutes.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Indeed, sir. Ross should be in South FL by now, per Ben Volin. Schedule the presser!

Practicing in that South Florida hit is a real bitch for players. It also gives us a huge home advantage in Sept and early Oct, so they need to deal with it.
We totally lost that advantage the last 3 years.
Agumen - January 20, 2012
Saw this article this morning:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/20/irsay-plans-to-draft-luck-or-griffin-even-if-peyton-is-healthy/
Imagine the mayhem that would ensue if the Colts took Griffin instead of Luck.
The Earl - January 20, 2012
Two things would happen
1. We would trade our entire draft for luck.
2. the monkey, bacon, gets a boner for life.
AnishB15 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
LMAO
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
Monkey bacon?

Red Dog - January 20, 2012
And this I would be ok with.
joel311 - January 20, 2012
yeah, i watched an interview with irsay last night
and he seemed to actually be considering RG3… kinda surprised me.
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
It's called a smokescreen
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
mmmmm smokescreen
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
Smokescreen season has begun though.....
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
Read that too
I would trade everything we can for the #2 pick in that instance.
Huge RG3 fan but Luck would instantly propel us into the Super Bowl contending talk.
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
so then instead of S4L it would have been more like
lose a few for andrew?
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
Well the biggest benefit is the #2 pick will be cheaper than the #1 pick
We can trade exactly what we would have traded for Griffin if he had been there.
The Earl - January 20, 2012
either way...it is not going to happen
luck to the colts
Phinphinatic - January 20, 2012
1. Colts won’t pass on luck for RG3.
2. If they are crazy and do, the Rams would take him in a heartbeat.
BahamaDolfan - January 20, 2012
not necessarily... the Colts can get out of Manning's contract if needed
the Rams cannot get rid of Bradford as easily. The cap ramifications would be severe and they can’t keep both. If they drafted Luck, they would have to try to trade Bradford and very few teams would want his contract. They would be better served to trade the pick and keep Bradford.
The Earl - January 20, 2012
They can but they owe him all that money the first part of March so they would have to cut him free before that.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
That is true, but either way, the Rams are stuck with Bradford unless someone is willing to take his contract
The Earl - January 20, 2012
WRONG!
All the upfront monies would charge to the Rams as would the roster bonus. The only thing that they new team would be hit with is the annual base which ranges from 1.7 to like 3.7 over the next 4 years.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Bradford is also due a huge roster bonus the first part of March so they would have to cut him but his contract
does not make him untradable from the stand point of the team trading for him. Its actually the reverse of that.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
I still think the Rams would trade the pick even if Luck was there
I don’t think Fisher would give up on Bradford that quickly.
The Earl - January 20, 2012
Yeah I don't think he is going anywhere. Just saying that if we traded for him with zero rework of his contract
he would actually charge less against the cap then Moore. If they tried to trade him there would be a line.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
I think I'd be willing to trade fro Bradford if the price was right
The Earl - January 20, 2012
Oh yeah. We HAVE to be in that line for sure.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Yeah I like Bradford. He just has a real bad O-line and no weapons.
BahamaDolfan - January 20, 2012
Yeah we have a much better O line even with the holes and a lot more weapons.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Here's a question
Would it be a poor decision to take Griffin at 1?
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
Not in my opinion.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Same here
I would not fault them one bit for it
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
Just 2 inches shorter!
wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
Honestly, it’s 6 in one, half dozen of the other.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
I think Luck is more likely to be a success
Like 95% to 92%, they are both gonna be good.
But Griffin has a higher ceiling if he maxes his potential
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
Exactly. I don’t believe the Colts can go wrong with either choice, but I think this is Polian merely posturing/creating a smoke screen for whatever reason.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
I am honestly surprised he's not already negotiating a contract with Luck lol
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
LOL – same here. As soon as he hired his agent, I would have been on the phone with him.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Right?
Lol theres no reason to smoke screen, everybody knows you take Luck, anything else isn’t a smoke screen, it’s dumb lol
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
If he took RG3 first overall, imagine the chaos that would be with that next pick. The Rams would have to open a call center to field all the calls from other teams, for Chrisssakes.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Probably
But if the Colts are even considering Griffin at #1, I think it’s safe to say the Rams will be fielding the same amount of calls for him.
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
Indeed…most likely correct.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
I feel like well be the only team getting a busy signal lol
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
LMAO
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
That'll be our press conference excuse.
Ireland: “we were looking to make a move and we had Griffin targeted, but STL’s phone was busy..”
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
When can they actually start negotiating with the top pick?
Is it 2 weeks prior to the draft?
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
Yes.
joel311 - January 20, 2012
Why
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
Luck is as close to a sure thing as there can be.
Why gamble?
joel311 - January 20, 2012
Makes sense
I personally see Griffin as close to a sure thing as well, with more potential. Thats the only reason I would consider him along with Luck, because IMO they are both nearly flawless prospects
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
I do agree that Luck is basically guaranteed to be a franchise QB
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
I'm not saying Griffin doesn't have a ton of potential,
but he definitely needs more work. So I think we are in agreement.
joel311 - January 20, 2012
Yeah I'm definitely not gonna argue against Luck at #1 lol
And if I’m indy, I’m taking Luck. But I would consider Griffin.
And if the option to trade down to #2 for a few picks and get Griffin anyway presented itself, I’d consider that as well lol
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
That is definitely a possibility.
I would scream bloody murder if I were an Indy fan and they took RG3 #1. There is a lot of picks to be accumulated for Luck… a 3-way trade with St. Louis and Washington would be a distinct possibility.
joel311 - January 20, 2012
See, thats the small disagreement we have
I really like Griffin so I wouldn’t be mad if I was an indy fan and we took him.. But the best move is Luck
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
not to sound weird...
But I had a dream last night that the Phins introduced Carmichael as our next head coach…and in the words of Notorious BIG…“It was all a dream”.

Finhead83 - January 20, 2012
OMG decide already
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
Just thinking....
Ross and Ireland had an 8 hour meeting with McCoy. 8 HOURS! I don’t think either Philbin or Bowles got that.
During those 8 hours, it’s possible they would have been going through the final details. Ie. type of staff he wants to bring with him.
Was he on that 11am plane from New York? 3 hours is ample time to go through a contract and sign it.
Then Ross could be introducing McCoy to the rest of the Dolphins hierarchy.
By the time this all happens, it could be 3pm that they will announce him.
Is this a good hypothesis of today’s events?
BahamaDolfan - January 20, 2012
I guess for the larger details but all the little stuff has to be worked out between his agent and Ireland. I doubt any contract goes from “Do you want the job?” to signed in anything close to 3 hours.
texascowpunk - January 20, 2012
true...I bet they worked through the night trying to get a contract with someone done.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has scheduled a press conference at 2:00pm to announce Miami’s brass cannot make a decision between co-front-runners Joe Philbin and Mike McCoy for the vacant Head Coach position with the Dolphins.
Ross is expected to announce the coaching search will continue for another 3 months, “just to make sure” they get the right man for the job. They expect to name a coach by the 2012 NFL Draft.

Kdog's the breaking news guy, and Mosul's the overall news guy
We just need Tex (the Twitter guy) and we’d have a bulletproof roundtable of sources.

After 11 inches it'll all look like a wall cumming down!

Welcome to life in the Northeast, or at least that’s what I think I remember you saying as far as where you’re from.
Syracuse – sunny and cold. Weird, weird winter.

DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Heh... like you have a choice....
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
Technically, I do. I could root for another team, so there!
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
Yeah, I'll root for these schmucks regardless of the losers they put on the field
So depressing.

joel311 - January 20, 2012
Last June, I just about did exactly that (Orlando area). Family got in the way of that decision.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
That's why you have to bring them down there one time first...

What blows my mind is when I see errors on CNN/Fox
I wonder how these guys get jobs sometimes.
Maybe if the Dolphins start doing things then I will have something else to focus on. Or maybe you guys can post up some nice pics of tatas and distract me :)

wild zion beaver - January 20, 2012
i wouldnt mind
Let’s get brooklyn decker here to coach. I’m sure every player will do everything she asks him to do. The sidelines would be much better to look at too. Leyts not forget the pointers she could give to the cheerleaders. Every player would play their hardest to make her happy. Its official! Brooklyn decker is my favorite candidate for HC
AnishB15 - January 20, 2012 via mobile

McCoy - Orton connection
Chance McCoy gets hired and brings in Orton…?
NuckifUBuck - January 20, 2012
Don't like Orton.
Neither did the Bears.
Neither did the Broncos.
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
Actually
The Bears tried to get him back this season but they were behind KC on the waiver wire so he was snagged by KC instead. Texans also tried to snag him… can’t help but think they’d still be in the playoffs if he was starting instead of Yates.
Ochophosphate - January 20, 2012
McCoy won't bring Orton...don't worry!

Brooklyn Decker is perfect, Marisa Miller is gorgeous, Kim K has the best ass in America…

DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
Lol
What is the fanbases reaction if McCoy gets hired? I say about half apathetic (don’t even care, doesn’t matter if we have no QB), half kinda pissed (he’s John Fox’s disciple)..
I don’t see any portion of the fanbase as a whole being happy with that move right off the bat
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
I said earlier in the thread that I’m a tad nervous about the guy, but we’ll see what happens. Just my 2 cents.
DolphinNation - January 20, 2012
it will take awhile
let you know after week 7
Kdog92 - January 20, 2012
You'll probably have that no matter who the new HC is.
Dolfan88 - January 20, 2012
I think are a few candidates the fanbase would like.
Carmichael was one.
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
At least it's someone who wants to be here
Instead of someone jerking us around, or appearing to.
NJ13 - January 20, 2012
Wanting to be here
Shouldn’t be our criteria. The fact that we have to search for a guy who wants this job makes me mad
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
It's definitely a wait and see situation.
joel311 - January 20, 2012
here he is, alright nicky, youre the pivot man now, alpha gets a rest
Btw, its brooklyn decker
AnishB15 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
Ok
Whats my job? Lets do this! Listen, anish, you inbound the ball to the duck. Duck, you swing it over to the girl bunny. You get it down low to the guy bunny, and you swing it to Mike. Mike, you go to the hole, and DOMINATE!

NJ13 - January 20, 2012

It's just true
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
indeed
Kdog92 - January 20, 2012
Well Scrappy if you hate Rob Ryan then you don't have anything to worry about
because he wasn’t interviewed for the head Coaching vacancy in MIami. The Dolphins only interviewed a total of 6 candidates and they spent 8 hours with Mike McCoy in the facility.
I believe without a doubt that he is the frontrunner for the position.
civwarbuff - January 20, 2012
i don't hate him
…. i just think he looks like a psycho …. probably a guy players would run through a brick wall for
he is probably way too opinionated for this job.

Everything he was a part of was hysterical, but his talk show just isn’t as good IMO. He has to play to a more generic audience.

When you have an easy job at GameStop don’t quit, you will end up holding a sign outside Sears
Phinsphana - January 20, 2012
Live and learn:)
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
lol... what does the sign say?
Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
It says
“i love this job…
But if a bus hit me and I died, that’d be cool too”
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
LOL c-mon man!!
Nicky you are rolling today but the kid is obviously bummed
scrappy the wildcat - January 20, 2012
Yeah I feel kinda bad
But I’ve been there before, so I know it gets better lol
Worked as a box-chucker for UPS less than a year after dropping out of FAU (where my scholarships amounted to enough that I was getting paid to attend school) because I “didn’t like school”
The real world slapped the shit outta me lol
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
No I'm ok money's money
Just hate the fact I can’t keep a signal
Phinsphana - January 20, 2012

Alpha6 - January 20, 2012
Anyone else watching Jesse Agler on the Finsiders?
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
Lol @ the finsiders
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
well the Phinsiders was already taken. ;)
I like Jesse Agler, he’s not as good as Darlington was but still pretty good. He had some interesting thoughts on the coaching situation.
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
I hate that they stole our name
And know less
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
Mosul seems to respect Jesse Agler
So I know I am not the only one. Besides there are not many other places that are live right now. :)
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
'tis true
Little Nicky 21 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
I agree. I have always found the Finsiders show to be very dissappointing.
Agler doesn’t offer any real insights and Sam Madison isn’t a very talented commentater. Also when the hold interviews (which they obviously do frequently and are put up on MiamiDolphins.com) they seem to be very delicate with the questions that are asked and the ones that are chosen from the online fans.
Not that isn’t important to be polite or anything like that but the show is an outlet for great discussion, yet the interviews always devolve into standard media discourse.
civwarbuff - January 20, 2012
He has offered some interesting points today, but typically he is
very careful with what he says.
civwarbuff - January 20, 2012
Well they are paid by the Dolphins
I wouldn’t try to ruffle the feathers of my employer either.
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
Delicate was probably the wrong word.
I didn’t mean it in terms of being too aggressive toward management.
I guess it is just the show as a whole is lacking.
civwarbuff - January 20, 2012
Hello guys hows it goin and yes I know no news yet on the HC possition.
But hey I do have something to wet your tastbuds for ya.

Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012
If rumors are true that McCoy is STILL interviewing it may mean final details

MassFinFan65 - January 20, 2012
Would be a good indication
Agent J 78 - January 20, 2012

Breaking NEWS
Brett Favre
Fuhbawl - January 20, 2012
lol
BREAKING NEWS: Farve is so old he farts dust
scrappy the wildcat - January 20, 2012
I'm so/so on McCoy
I like that he’s worked with Matt Moore before since he’ll most likely be the starter next year and I like how he showed adaptability in the Broncos offense. I would have rather seen Bowles get it because I just think he’s going to be a real good head coach one day, but if this is the way the go then lets hope it was the right choice. Most of the past 8 or 10 years have really sucked.
Hollywood67 - January 20, 2012
So the grapevine tells me we're going after some hotshot college coach from LSU
His name is satan or something like that?
Rytackle - January 20, 2012
Joe philbin
Just heard on ESPN. He got the job.

mr1313 - January 20, 2012
Like Jason Taylor said the media is always wrong. Man the Dolphins had everyone fooled with McCoy.
mr1313 - January 20, 2012
It was all speculation
It’s like Jesse Agler said, there was not a single thing out of the Dolphins since last weekend. It was all media specualtion.

Jason Scott_90 - January 20, 2012 via Android app
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
Now we don’t have to worry about changing our offense for next 4 years. That alone will help the offense moving forward. Now offer Flynn a contract so we can get him here for the off season.Draft the best RT,OLB in that order and I believe we just may be a contender in very near future……………“GREAT” hire Ross…….GO FINS 2012!!!!
