Phinsphana - January 15, 2012
now, on a more serious note
Anyone think yates can be the next brady? They have similar strengths, playing styles and are in similar situations. I hope they somehow at least make it to the super bowl. If the texans can do so, matt schaub may be on the trade market if yates shows he can take over the team.
AnishB15 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
I saw something Bill Simmons said about that
The Earl - January 15, 2012

5th rounder at most
He may have been a Pro Bowler before, but he was easily replaced with a 5th round rookie.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
I wouldn't trade for him at all
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Agreed...

Fumble
Phinsphana - January 15, 2012
If you want to complain about a missed draft pick
We could have drafted Conner Barwin instead of Pat White.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Really.. what a douche of a pick....
Alpha6 - January 15, 2012
We can just complain about Pat White
Phinsphana - January 15, 2012
Or we could have drafted Arian Foster instead of:
Patrick Turner – 3rd round
Brian Hartline – 4th round (not a bad 4th round pick though)
John Nalbone – 5th round
Chris Clemons – 5th round (again not a bad pick, anytime you draft a guy after 4th round that sticks is a good pick IMO)
Andrew Gardner – 6th round
J. D. Folsom – 7th round
You can play this game with just about every pick……… with that said I never liked the Pat White pick (the only way is if we made him a WR a la Randle El).
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Carl Nicks will be a FA this offseason
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/15/nicks-expected-to-leave-new-orleans-in-free-agency/
Make it happen Ireland!!!
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Good guard
Phinsphana - January 15, 2012
He'll be expensive, but worth it
Put him at LG, move Incognito to RG, and let Jerry and Murtha fight it out for the RT spot.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
So we can cut Culumbo
Phinsphana - January 15, 2012
He is gone regardless
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Oh thank god
Phinsphana - January 15, 2012
I hope Sparano brings him up to the jets...
Wake will have 10 sacks in those 2 games next year.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
When he was down here he took cowboy rejects
Now he gets dolphin rejects. It’s the circle of suck
Phinsphana - January 15, 2012

AlejandroN - January 15, 2012
Hola
The Earl - January 15, 2012
How's it goin Duke?
AlejandroN - January 15, 2012
Not too bad today... how are you?
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Pretty good, what do you think about Ravens DC Pagano about possible being new coach?
AlejandroN - January 15, 2012
I don't know that much about him, but he has a good defense
I’d rather have an offensive minded HC since that’s our biggest weaknesses.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
So would I
I would really want to see Chud down here. I feel like his ability to utilize and develope tight ends would help this offense going.
Plus he’s a Canes guy.
AlejandroN - January 15, 2012
I'm hoping we go for Carmichael, but Chud would be a good choice too
either one could work wonders with Griffin.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
I'd be nervous
But I would take him. Former UM guy, only been DC for one season, and has the most talented defense in football.
He’s 4th on my list
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Hey all
I’ve changed my mind. We don’t need a QB, we just need to build a flawless defense, great offensive line, get the best RB in the league, the best WR in the league, and then we can just plug some random schlub in..
That’ll be much easier to do and maintain lol
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Dammit
Why did it post here?

Oh hai!
kmb8488 - January 15, 2012
Hello Keith
The Earl - January 15, 2012
+1 on Carl Nicks to Miami
That absolutely has to happen.
kmb8488 - January 15, 2012
That is our #1 priority unless Mario Williams hits FA (not likely)
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Yeah
And then our first-round pick becomes a BPA opportunity. I am all about Courtney Upshaw at this point. And if we HAVE to take a right tackle, we’re slinging a starting line-up of Long/Nicks/Pouncey/Incognito/Reiff. That’s just ridiculous.
kmb8488 - January 15, 2012
That line = 10 seconds to throw
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Yeah, that's as good as it gets
kmb8488 - January 15, 2012
That's going to be an expensive line
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
Just Long and Nicks
everyone else would have a reasonable contract.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Yeah, you'd have two rookie contracts on that line
Which are essentially bargain contracts in the wake of the new CBA.
kmb8488 - January 15, 2012
Have to agree
Nicks is one of the best out there
phinfansc1980 - January 15, 2012
If Miami gets Nicks in FA
would would think Miam should get RGIII in the draft this yr?
phinfansc1980 - January 15, 2012
If we get Nicks and a decent pass rusher in FA
He will probably try to trade up.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Who would you recomend for pass rusher Duke?
phinfansc1980 - January 15, 2012
Depends on scheme
Avril would be a good choice as I think he could be scheme diverse, but he’ll be kinda pricey. We’ll probably have to draft a guy pretty early. If we stay 3-4, Bruce Irvin is a guy we should target in the draft.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Thanks just wanted to know
and it may look like we might go with a different DC do to how unhappy Miami’s is
phinfansc1980 - January 15, 2012
Yep
And I would target Minnesota as a trade partner. They desperately need picks.
kmb8488 - January 15, 2012
Maybe even package one of our D linemen in the deal
Just so we can keep some picks.
kmb8488 - January 15, 2012
True
just a little worried about getting him though. Don’t follow college that much, but did watch the bowl game he played in and he looked good out there on the feild.
phinfansc1980 - January 15, 2012
Yeah, he's unbelievable
kmb8488 - January 15, 2012
It's just how long would he last
just look at Vick, and yes (Vick) is a different player.
phinfansc1980 - January 15, 2012
Griffin is bigger and could still put on about 10 pounds without losing speed
The Earl - January 15, 2012
He ain't Pat White.....
…. who died.

Iwas watching at the nabors house & i was thinking that, i'm not overwhelmed by eather team!
But i did note one inpaticular Wade Philups head coach, if i remember he was laughed out of the NFL can’t think of the team or teams he coached. well let me get to the part that hit me, wade is in the playoffs. A bad coach with other team, must be personel or what else could it be!
wild zion beaver - January 15, 2012
He was with Dallas
Dolfan88 - January 15, 2012
Wade's a stud D coordinator, just not a stud head coach, IMO
kmb8488 - January 15, 2012
What is he doing in the playoffs then!
wild zion beaver - January 15, 2012

wild zion beaver - January 15, 2012
Touch-back all the way!
wild zion beaver - January 15, 2012
Question
If the Ravens win do the patriots have to play them in Baltimore?
Miamimaniac - January 15, 2012
No, Pats got top seed
The Earl - January 15, 2012
... and Brady has it in his mouth...
Wow. Did I say that?
Alpha6 - January 15, 2012
LOL
Miamimaniac - January 15, 2012
Swallow all!
wild zion beaver - January 15, 2012
Don't matter to me as long as the Pasties get clobbered....
Alpha6 - January 15, 2012

wild zion beaver - January 15, 2012
I agree
But any advantage is welcome!
Miamimaniac - January 15, 2012
lets to houston!
Or baltimore? I don’t even know. I don’t care as long as either one beats the living crap out of the cheatriots next week.
AnishB15 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Cheatriots of fire!
wild zion beaver - January 15, 2012
I don't know if it matters
Brady is doing that thing where he’s awesome
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
unfortunately
This is why I hate him.
AnishB15 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
It really is amazing to watch though
He almost never makes the wrong read or an inaccurate throw
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I respect the guy
Hate the team
Miamimaniac - January 15, 2012
Agreed
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Hey
Tim Dobbins with a nice play on the goal line..
I can’t remember who he used to play for
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Haha yeah...Ireland cut him right?
hbkDolphins - January 15, 2012
No it was all Parcells
Ireland was picking up Bill’s dry cleaning at the time
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
They should give it to Ricky more
hbkDolphins - January 15, 2012
Love Ricky
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Wow
Did you see Tim Dobbins stand up Ray Rice? Another ex dolphin making plays on other teams.
HawkFire89 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Kind of flies in the face
of what WZB was saying about personnel making all the difference.
Miamimaniac - January 15, 2012
No offence to you WZB
Miamimaniac - January 15, 2012
Yup
Like Ninkovich last night, who was cut in favor of the almighty Quentin Moses
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Or Erik Walden
Who started all year for GB
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
But it's cool
I mean, we needed roster spots for AJ Edds and Austin Spitler
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I am sure you were screaming Ninkovich and Walden
should have remained on the team I am sure, right?
It’s not like we were the only team that cut them.
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Not Ninkovich
Walden, yes. I like Walden, he was a monster on special teams, and I wanted him to get playing time at one of the OLB spots
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I could never figure out why we kept cutting good special teamers
In favor of Moses. It’s not “cutting Ninkovich” that made me mad, it was constantly “keeping Moses.”
I’m sure you loved the Austin Spitler pick..
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I guess it was that one or two good plays he made lol
As for Spitler, I had heard his name but other than that no idea about him before we drafted him. Seemed like about as solid a pick as a 7th rounder can be at the time.
Having had these players brought in shows that the GM and scouting department work well together. We have had some solid contributors from late round and undrafted FA. Some players just show nothing and need a few years to develop. Our own Cameron Wake is a prime example.
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
I'll be honest
I just haven’t been a fan of the constant churning of the backups. It’s not the names or the players, it’s the philosophy. It was the reason I think our special teams were so bad. Every week there were new pieces to fit into the kicking game.
Thats what I’m really complaining about, not the fact that we don’t have Ninkovich lol
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I agree
but it’s not like we are the only team, look at how often the Patriots change over the bottom of their roster.
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Not to the extent we did
And they tend to hang on to most of the special teams contributors, and churn the guys who aren’t key parts. Look at how long they held on to Larry Izzo even though he never played on defense
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Everytime I checked my Pro Football Weekly app
during the season the Patriots were trying out, releasing and signing players on a weekly basis (or so it seemed). They were always so minor they were never mentioned at any of the “big sites” like ESPN, CBSSports etc. The only other time I heard about them is if it was someone like Edds.
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
The funny thing is we waived Ninkovich to sign Walden
(yes just found that out)
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Dammit Quentin Moses!
Well between the two, I’d take Walden.
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
That girl with the Dolphins jersey is sadly the only time a Dolphins jersey has been on the field this late in this decade
hbkDolphins - January 15, 2012
Haha.. And the two 15 yr old champs were from South Dakota
No wonder we keep drafting from there
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Ava Schmueli, FTW!
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
We finally saw a Dolphin in the divisional round! Fins Up???
hbkDolphins - January 15, 2012
What's everybody's take on taking a pass rusher first round in the draft?
Instead of OL, QB or possibly CB/RB/WR. I’m pretty intrigued by Courtney Upshaw.
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
We definitely need one
And if we aren’t trading up for Griffin, my next choice is trying to trade down to acquire some trade pieces for next years QB class and taking a pass rusher
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I'm not an RG3 fan
So trading down and acquiring a pass rusher would be my personal best case scenario.
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
How can you not be an RG3 fan?
He’s amazing
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Well he is a RB disguised as a QB didn't you know? lol
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Yeah I loved that opening line in that comment from the other thread
phinsphan85 - January 15, 2012
That was ridiculous
Such an ignorant comment
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
As soon as I read it, I knew you would like it
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Too much of a risk
Won’t translate to the NFL right away. He’s most accurate passing when on the run which makes him more susceptible to injury. He’ll cost a kings ransom to trade up for and I’m still not convinced he’s anything more than a gimmick QB. Just not worth it to me. The Phins priorities should be to solidify the oline and develop a pass rush. I know I’m in the minority on this but Matt Moore is serviceable enough for another season. I’m actually a bigger fan of Weeden than RG3. And I’m fully aware Weeden is 28 years old..
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
It'll cost a 1st, maybe a 2nd but most likely a 3rd
and some players. That will be enough to get it done.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Yeah I think it's pretty obvious you didn't see him play
But it’s cool. I mean, you only just advocated taking an older John Beck instead of Griffin..
You also have your priorities wrong. QB is the only priority that matters for us right now, because we won’t be a consistent contender without one.
The only thing you said that makes sense is the cost of trading up, but the problem there is that well be 6-10, 7-9, 8-8, and have to trade up for Barkley, Jones, or Wilson next season.
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I will never understand the "build around the QB before you get the QB" mentality
So by the time we get one, our other special players will be older and deeper into their contract and we’ll have to start over. Honestly I can’t even begin to see the other side of the arguement
phinsphan85 - January 15, 2012
It makes no sense
Because in their minds, you’ll need a perfect situation, and you never have a perfect situation
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
What's the point in having an "elite" QB unless you can protect them first?
How many QB injuries have the Phins had in the last 3-4 years? I realize you and I aren’t going to agree with each other, but I’m just stating that not all fans want RG3.
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
CP was brittle and Henne got hurt a few times, but never had a season ending injury until this year
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Last year it should have ended his season, just like JL.
PotM - January 15, 2012
But it didn't... he was able to play
And we can sign Carl Nicks and pick up a decent RT later in the draft and be fine.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Should have. It was an injury to his leg, his strong arm could have hid the effect.
PotM - January 15, 2012
I don't recall him needing surgery for it
but you’re right… he should have been benched. But not for the injury.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
I see what you did there.
PotM - January 15, 2012
Oh you mean when we've had the best LT in the game?
You don’t need 5 great players on the OL before you plug in a QB. Rodgers was amazing this year with constant shuffling on his line from injuries. You need decent players and you need your QB to be smart enough to set the right protections
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Not to mention that Stafford had 5000 yards
with the worst set of OT in the NFL
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Lol
Stop with all yer fancy facts lol
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I know
no one likes facts, it distorts opinions.
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
And yes
I have seen RG3 play. I watched the entire Alamo Bowl and thought Keith Price was the better of the two QB’s.
I also watched Weeden against Luck and Weeden outplayed Luck.
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
Lol
Then we have nothing to talk about if you think Price is better..
Try watching the TCU, Oklahoma, and Texas games
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Are you watching the game right now?
Flacco is playing terrible and his defence/special teams are taking him to the conference championships. You don’t need an elite QB to win playoff games. The Houston Texans improved so much this year because they drafted two awesome defenders this year and have one of the best and most underrated olines in football.
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
Have you been watching this DECADE?
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
snorkle.... you made me blow beer through my nose !!
thanks nicky , lol
daytonadolfan - January 15, 2012
line of the day
lmfao
MiamihastheDolphins.... - January 15, 2012
Holy shit!
I just realized it’s MHTD!!
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I've watched every Phins game, every playoff game and a lot more this past decade
Alex Smith and Joe Flacco are going to the conference championships. Alex Smith. Joe Flacco.
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
So are Tom Brady
Again..
And either Aaron Rodgers, again, or Eli Manning, again.
Franchise QB’s do it again and again and again. Alex Smith does it once. Trent Dilfer does it once. Brad Johnson does it once. Brady, the Mannings, Rodgers, Brees, they do it year in and year out
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
But Brady and Brees were not 1st round QB's
Just beating someone to the argument. lol
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Brady was an accident
Brees dropped because he’s only 6 ft lol.
But yeah if you get stone cold lucky and get a franchise QB outside of the first, great. Just don’t count on it lol
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Then there is the Rodgers argument
but there was talk of Rodgers going #1, hence why he was in the green room.
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
He should've went #2
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
sadness
The Earl - January 15, 2012
Poo poo?
Alpha6 - January 15, 2012
Lets not talk about that. lol
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Packers and Pats
Win championships by building through the draft. They add draft picks year after year. And have incredible coaching to develop QB’s. They don’t give up a plethora of draft picks to move up 6 picks.
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
The Pats have had terrible drafts recently
The reason they can get away with it is because of Tom Brady.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
But everyone thinks they draft amazing
when they hit, they usually hit big though (like Hernandez and Gronk)
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
And we aren't going to have to give up a "plethora" of picks to move up
3, maybe 4 picks tops. Maybe even less if we give up some players.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
No
They win because Brady and Rodgers are awesome and they allow them to load up in the draft. New England has a terrible defense. GB’s hasn’t been much better. They aren’t winning consistently for any reason other than great QB’s. They weren’t “developed” they are elite.
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Brady and Rodgers
Were both developed as backups before becoming starters. The Pats have had some suspect drafts, but they get so many draft picks it doesn’t matter if they hit on all picks. It’s all about coaching and the ability to develop the QB. And having a bit of luck in the draft. And not giving up huge picks for one player.
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
and to back up nicky the Super Bowl winners since 2000
all had franchise QBs, except the Bucs…Pats (3 times), Steelers (twice), Colts, Giants, and Packers
so yea, u need a qb to win championships…defense helps
MiamihastheDolphins.... - January 15, 2012
And the Ravens in 2001.......
but yeah most people just don’t get it. They’ll use the 1 or 2 examples out there instead of the 10 other ones on the other side.
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
The Ryan Leaf Corrolary
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
I was talking more about the teams in the playoffs
but yeah that too. lol
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Playoff teams this year:
Green Bay – Top 3 QB
New England – Top 3 QB
New Orleans – Top 3 QB
Detroit – Top 5 QB
NY Giants – Top 10 QB
Pittsburgh – Top 10 QB
Atlanta – Top 10 QB
Houston – Top 10 QB, limped into playoffs with top 5 D and top 5 running back
San Francisco – Top 5 D, serviceable top 15 QB
Baltimore – Top 5 D, serviceable top 15 QB
Cincinnati – 0-7 against playoff teams and 3-1 against NFC West, were a surprise with relatively weak schedule, solid D and efficient QB play (reminded me a little of our 2008 season).
Denver – An 8-8 team in the playoffs with a -81 pint differential……
So IMO, 8 out of the top 10 QB were in the playoffs (Philip Rivers & Tony Romo being the two that didn’t……. and well Schaub, who was 7-3 as starter).
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
yea, and the Ravens
MiamihastheDolphins.... - January 15, 2012
ravens were actually in 2000
MiamihastheDolphins.... - January 15, 2012
2000 season, 2001 Super Bowl :)
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
touche
MiamihastheDolphins.... - January 15, 2012
Weeden is going to struggle without Blackmon to throw to
The Earl - January 15, 2012
He will have Marshall
Drumzan - January 15, 2012
For all the concerns about RG3, Weeden has just as many
such as playing in the one-read spread offense, inability to read defenses, etc. Of all the QB prospects, Luck is the safest and we ain’t getting him. Everyone after that has questions. RG3 has the most potential of everyone remaining.
The Earl - January 15, 2012
So you're are basing your opinion
of RG3 on a game where the opposing defence gave up nearly 500 yards on the ground? Why throw a pass when your running game is averaging 10 yards a carry?
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
unfortunately I can not see either one of theses teams beating N.E.
dolfan52 - January 15, 2012
Agreed
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
wut up gents, go ravens!
got here late, lol
daytonadolfan - January 15, 2012
Wow Cam Cameron looks older and different from what i've seen
phinsphan85 - January 15, 2012
Who won the Texan game?
PotM - January 15, 2012
Still rooting for a Texan vs. 49ers SB.
PotM - January 15, 2012
still on
daytonadolfan - January 15, 2012
13 - 20 ravens and ravens just intercepted
daytonadolfan - January 15, 2012
Ed Reed with an interception with 1:51 left
Baltimore will win
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Knew it was coming
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Is there a player that comes up with more big plays at decisive moment
on the defensive side than he does?
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
Charles Woodson
The only one even close
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Good call on Woodson
It seems like every time I watch Baltimore playing and the game is still hanging in the balance Reed seems to make a big play whether its forcing a fumble or making an interception.
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
this is why you can't have a 5th round rookie qb starting in the playoffs
he has done this too many times in this game
MiamihastheDolphins.... - January 15, 2012
TJ Yates hasn't been accurate on the deep throws from what I've seen and already had 2 prior critical INts
So, why throw that ball?
phinsphan85 - January 15, 2012
key word is "rookie"
daytonadolfan - January 15, 2012
cause he's a 5th round rookie
and just threw it up to his superstar receiver hoping something good would happen
MiamihastheDolphins.... - January 15, 2012
It's AJ, I kind of don't blame him if the game was on the line.
PotM - January 15, 2012
Throwing it to Andre is not a bad idea
Missing him with Ed Reed in the area is
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
good point , lol
daytonadolfan - January 15, 2012
this ^^
MiamihastheDolphins.... - January 15, 2012
damn , looks short of the 1st
daytonadolfan - January 15, 2012
I say go for it lol
If you get it, game over. If you don’t, they still need a TD against your awesome d
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
Did Dierdorf say Yates has played pretty well?
Right at 50% completions, under 200 yds, 3 picks that should’ve been 6…
He’s got the same tolerance for QB play as many dolphins fans..
Little Nicky 21 - January 15, 2012 via Android app
lol he's on something
MiamihastheDolphins.... - January 15, 2012
LOL
Agent J 78 - January 15, 2012
