The Miami Dolphins will resume their coaching search with Jeff Fisher's announcement that he is taking the St. Louis Rams head coach position. Miami, reportedly, has a candidate lined up for Saturday - but has not released who that candidate may be.
But, now it's your turn. Continue reading to vote for whom you would like to see take the job, since Fisher is now out.

So glad we got that awesome head start on the coaches by firing Sparano.
Seems like every team has a new coach EXCEPT for Miami. Even Sparano found a job. Great job there… BONEHEAD!
Bill Moody - January 13, 2012
You can't get a head start on a coaching position.
You aren’t allowed to start interviewing for head coaches until the Monday after the final week of the year. Gues what Miami did on that Monday? Interviewed Bowles. Guess what they did on Tuesday? Interviewed Fisher.
Seems like, while other teams were firing coaches on Monday and Tuesday, we were doing alright.
Now, Fisher is out, we still have 5 candidates already interviewed, and another scheduled for tomorrow. We’re okay. I promise.
Kevin Nogle - January 13, 2012
Hope they intervew Chudz
That will make my weekend
Aleta - January 13, 2012
We were basically turned down by the big 3...
Cowher, Gruden, Fisher… I don’t think you can discredit the perception they have of the team ownership and how they treated their former coach. We’ll probably never know if things would have turned out differently had they let Sparano finish the season, but hey, now we are at risk of losing Bowles too. Awesome!
Bill Moody - January 13, 2012
how about steve spurrier
he worked out great for another crazy owner
Jcrew1179 - January 13, 2012
The NFL as a whole was turned down by Cowher and Gruden.
Not just Miami.

21Dave - January 13, 2012
If Ross wants to create a stir he should hire Billick, Nobody is talking to the guy but Billick should be able to turn this roster into a winner within 2 seasons max and then he, Ross, and Ireland can laugh at everyone that left Billick alone.
Not to mention make fun of Fisher for having another playoff-less season out west.
TheFinReaper - January 13, 2012
I Voted for Chudz though.
TheFinReaper - January 13, 2012
Chudz or Philbin should be our HC
Boht have a passing happy offense mind, something we need. Hope they keep the staff as is lol
Aleta - January 13, 2012
I actually said I wanted Philbin back in September (HERE) but I don’t know if I want to risk calling him not knowing when his grieving over his son will leave him ready to take over.
TheFinReaper - January 13, 2012
that is why you call his agent
to request an interview if/when he is ready
Jcrew1179 - January 13, 2012
Billick really deserves a shot
and Ireland doesn’t seem to have any other coaching friends but I think he is a Parcells guy. I wonder who billick would bring in as GM.
Jcrew1179 - January 13, 2012
Wow, for the 100th time. Ross and Billick do NOT, thats NOT get along. This is NOT going to happen.
texascowpunk - January 13, 2012

Kevin Nogle - January 13, 2012
Just go get Chud and be done with it.

CHUD.. wasn't that a horror flick?
Alpha6 - January 13, 2012
Darlington said that he spoke to someone on the inside...
and the Dolphins like Chud, but they don’t think he is ready to be a head coach. That would explain why we brought in all these other guys and not Chud….

Kevin Nogle - January 13, 2012
Winston Moss
Assistant Head Coach of the Packers. I think they should interview and hire him. If I had to choose someone else, I would go with Chud. I really liked Philbin, but I don’t know how his son’s death will affect him.
Zag - January 13, 2012
That
Patssuck456 - January 13, 2012
Moss is a coach I like as well.
Patssuck456 - January 13, 2012
I wouldn't mind this at all...
Only two issues are (1) we have to wait until the Packers are out of the playoffs or the week before the Super Bowl to interview him and (2) I really think he will head to Oakland with the new GM over there.
Kevin Nogle - January 13, 2012
This thread should be retitled: Who the hell wants to work with Jeff Ireland?
Patssuck456 - January 13, 2012
Fisher wanted to work with Ireland.
We will never know exactly what the sticking point was. He likes Ireland. There was just more power in STL than here, and apparently that’s what it came down too.
That’s okay. Time to move on.
Kevin Nogle - January 13, 2012
The word is that if Ireland were fired here he would for sure not come here and then would in turn hire Ireland in STL
because he likes him so much.

That is why he wanted some say in Personel? I think it is safe to say that Fisher wanted to buy some of the Groceries. If Ireland wanted to help him to the Car with said groceries then great. Don’t let the PC words mislead you folks.
FinFanFromCA - January 13, 2012
Only one of these 4 should be our next head coach!
Brian Billick, Pete Carmichael Jr., Rob Chudzinski or Chip Kelly
njphinsfan13 - January 13, 2012
no chip kelly
the guy runs a super spread offense and gimmicky play calling. won’t fool anyone in the NFL
tightypatwhitey - January 13, 2012
Just like the Broncos Tebow offense won't win games...or the division...or a playoff game against the #1 defense in the league....
Kevin Nogle - January 13, 2012
this
We need to stop doing everything the conservative, traditional, “right” way. We need to go out of the box for a change.
AnishB15 - January 13, 2012 via mobile
oh come on
They play in a crappy division got into the playoffs at 8-8. Big Ben was still obviously hurt an ineffective, and the Broncos D is nasty when it shows up. Tebow isn’t that great. He is averaging 19 points a game since starting with a margin of victory of 5 points much means on average wins it is 19-14. Be realistic. On his average losses are by 17.5 points. Sure he is winning some games, but come on Mosul.
It’s almost like Miami’s wildcat. Great for a year, sputtered in year two and was figured out and demolished in year three. Same thing will happen to the Broncos offense.
tightypatwhitey - January 13, 2012
yet in the end
The “W” is all that counts.
AnishB15 - January 13, 2012 via mobile
true
Look at Miami’s season when they lost all of those games by 4 points or less and we finished 7-9. Is that an indicator on how poor our team was? Did the league just figure out the wildcat (year 3) Or is it an indicator of how close we were to finishing 11-5 and making the playoffs? The same thing will happen with Tebow in year 3.
Back to the main point,
I’d prefer a creative coach, but I don’t think Chip Kelly is it.
tightypatwhitey - January 13, 2012
RIGHT!
Just because something is used in college (spread) doesn’t mean it won’t with in the NFL (wildcat). Put a professional spin on it. Expand the options to make it more complex and specialized to your team makeup. A gimmick is only a gimmick if you can’t learn to incorporate it into your own style fully.

i like what mike nolan is doing with the d we need an offensive minded coach and with philbin we could get matt flynn after he installs the new offense it would be very friendly to flynn
bwnew246 - January 13, 2012
agreeed
The ground and pound just don’t cut it anymore, I like the idea of Flynn alot, and I’m glad fisher went to the garbage rams with his garbage .500 record, enjoy the weather Jeff ;)
PAPHIN4ever - January 14, 2012
Marty Schottenheimer gets my vote.
The guy can still coach.
Sadly, Ross has put all his eggs in Ireland’s basket. We’re going to be stuck with a new coach as long as he has given the reins to Ireland. And I have nothing personal against Ireland. He just hasn’t proven anything to be worthy of being put in charge of this franchise.
It confuses me why so many people want Philbin. First, he didn’t even call te plays in Green Bay. Second, we already went with an Offensive Coordinator, first time Head Coach in Cam Cameron. that didn’t end well. If we do that again we set this franchise back another 3 or 4 years.
Get someone who has run a team before. I’d be happy with Billick, but that isn’t happening, since its pretty clear that Ross has a grudge against him.
My hunch was Fisher was going to the Rams the whole time. And if Ross & Ireland screw-up this hire, it will take years to recover.

I second that
They better hurry, he’s talkig with the Buc’s as I understand.
AFT - January 13, 2012
He's too old we want a coach that can survive past a season.
fsu_csu - January 13, 2012
Totally agree!
The reason Fisher chose the Rams over the Fins is pretty apparent. It’s the need to win immediately. The Rams can be 5-11 next year and it won’t seem like a failure to fans because of the lack of talent.
We on the other hand, have a team that has a lot of promising young players. If Fisher couldn’t get at least a winning season he would be seen as a failure. Schotty wins games, at least in the regular season if nothing else.
mjams - January 13, 2012 via mobile
CHUD! CHUD! CHUD!
I also liked Philbin but with what happened to his son I don’t think he would be in a good mindset
Phinsphana - January 13, 2012
Ben Volin tweet:
fans are bummed now, but all will be forgiven if they land RG3 or Peyton. The QB matters more than the coach, anyway
I pretty much agree. He also mentioned how Fisher holds the key to RG III. Hopefully we’ll work something out there
phinsphan85 - January 13, 2012
Marty Schottenheimer
Martyball would work great with the players that we now have
AFT - January 13, 2012
Hue Jackson
good coach who was wrongly fired. Kept an undisciplined team playing meaningful football all season. I think that he will be the hungriest head coach candidate on the market. We should at least interview him.
Phinphinatic - January 13, 2012
I agree
rlee - January 13, 2012
Hue Jackson made it be known that he wanted more control over the team in Oakland. That is why he was fired. Bad press conferance.

Update:
Ross calling Miami media. Seems like a story is coming soon. Probably to explain the Fisher situation and Miami’s plans for now.

texascowpunk - January 13, 2012
I chose Philbin but
the emotional issues he is dealing with now are probably too much to HC a NFL team
GoNuckingFuts - January 13, 2012

that’s the main reason I’m backing Chudzinski

I'd be happy with Billick
BUT……….the team played well under Bowles (2-1) and he’s highly thought of as a coach. Maybe he should get a shot? He knows the personnel already and they respect him. Who knows. Maybe Bowles could become the young Don Shula Ross (and Dolfans) is dreaming of
Hollywood67 - January 13, 2012
Bowles would be my 2nd choice, behind Shotty.
My thought is seek out the experienced coach who is a consistent winner. If we have to choose a coordinator for HC, get the one who is most familiar with our talent.
mjams - January 13, 2012 via mobile
Yeah, I'm cool with Bowles.
I think he’s highly reguarded and continutity is a big part.
The only big thing to change would be the DC, as Nolan is set on leaving….
Alpha6 - January 13, 2012
This is good news IMO
Fishers and Dolphins don’t mix.
Seriously though, I Hope we did piss off any of the other candidates by waiting on Fisher

54 - January 13, 2012
I don't think I really have a top choice...
Toub, Carmichael, Chud, Zimmer, Moss…I’d be happy with any of those guys. Just wondering if Toub or Zimmer could develop a QB.
Drumzan - January 13, 2012
You know ... as much as I was not thrilled about Jeff Fisher..
He would have been a Solid choice for head coach. What really bothers me about this whole thing though is not that we miss out on him.. but WE WENT ALL IN on this guy… and in the end he decides to go to the Rams. A 2-14 team beats us out that is a complete mess outside having a QB… and who will probably move to LA soon… I can’t believe it… we are the Detroit Lions….
Jason Scott_90 - January 13, 2012
Rec'd.
The spin on this has already begun. Everyone distancing themselves from the process, but you stated it correctly:
The Phins did go all in and missed out again for the second year in a row. This organization has to ask why?
ct1361 - January 13, 2012
Location, Location, Location...
Harbaugh is from California, Fisher is from the mid-west…
Drumzan - January 13, 2012
Look, I think missing out on Fisher could be the best thing to happen...
Even the greatest coaches were “nobody” before they were “somebody”… we all need to freaking chill out and quit saying that we missed out on a great coach. The guy got a team to the Superbowl once and LOST. Some say he was OUT COACHED. All I’m saying is give one of the other candidates a shot. You can’t seriously think that some super coach is going to come waltzing into Miami and take the Dolphins to the promise land…. That’s just absurd !
Dolphinator - January 13, 2012
Coaching matters in the NFL. Despite what you think of Fisher, he was going to bring a top flight staff.
The question about whoever the Phins hire, will they be able to bring in a top flight staff? Part of the issue with Cam Cameron and Tony Sparano is that the position coaches (and coordinators in some respects) weren’t very good. That affects the team. That also could be a reason both failed.
That wouldn’t have been a problem with Fisher.
ct1361 - January 13, 2012
I like Mike McCoy
He could be that “young Don Shula” that Ross was talking about
JP 23 - January 13, 2012 via mobile

New Coach
Come on guys! Let’s get Chip Kelly in here! He is one of the best football minds around right now and he would definitely keep Nolan as DC. They are both Oregon Ducks! Everybody wants to see how great this offense could be. Get Chip, move up in the draft and get RG3, and reap the rewards. I have never seen a college coach do so much with so little. He really could be the next Don Shula. We just can’t let another NFL team discover that first.
I don’t want another OC or DC using our team to waste the next 3 years on his own career. If we are going to replace Sparano, let’s go all in!!!!! Make a splash Ross!
Dolfan256 - January 13, 2012
Qb's the key
We need a Great QB I think Flynn has that potential over any of the college prospects that we may be able to draft. Get Flynn then build to suit him, and definitely get an offence minded coach our D is almost completely set up already!!!
PAPHIN4ever - January 14, 2012
Im happy Fisher went to the Rams. Thank god.
jdtman - January 13, 2012
The hunt remains, Aparently it's easer to get a OC then head coach!
wild zion beaver - January 13, 2012
I'm hoping the dolphins get chuck pagano from baltimore. He and nolan would elevate the defense to elite.
I’m also hoping the dolphins keep Daboll and have the offense to continue to improve with him as well as draft RGIII
PhinDiesel - January 14, 2012
Stuck with a Moron Owner
Forget about Jeff Fisher for now. Let’s address our real problem…S. Ross.
That is the problem facing many teams in the NFL. Owners, that n=know nothing about the game, and are unwilling to allow real Football Experts to run their team.
What Ross needs to do is step aside and allow someone else to run his team. Be an owner, not a day to day, on hands team manager. There are few owners that understand the game and the business of the game well enough to be involved. Ross is not one of them. We can’t fire him..he is the owner, but we can tell him that he needs to release his grip and let someone else that knows how, to run the team. How do we do this? We don’t buy tickets, we don’t support the team. I am a fan, but I don’t want to suffer anymore with inept owners and issues that have a solution. For the fans to voice their opinion, they need to take a harder stand. I am not turning my back on the players and the Dolphins. I am turning my back on S. Ross, Ireland and the train wreck he has allowed in Miami. Do we have a voice? Of course…we buy tickets and view games and buy merchandize. Express your displeasure without fear. Buy joining a protest against Ross, we send a clear message that , we the Fans, are not happy. Ross needs to step away and let someone else run the team…or sell it!!!!
