Jets at Dolphins Rapid Reactions - Miami Sends Jets Home For the Winter

All right Miami!!!! I haven't watched the game yet (as soon as I can get the time, and it's on NFL Replay, I will), but that's the first thing I thought when I saw the score.

Nothing really matters outside of the fact that, even though we may not be heading to the post season, neither are the Jets. That's always a nice end-of-season bonus.

Quarterback Matt Moore finished the game 22-for-32 for just 135 yards, with a touchdown and two interceptions. Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez topped Moore in every category, throwing for 207 yards, for two touchdowns, and three picks.

Star-divide

Miami obviously missed starting running back Reggie Bush, with Steve Slaton proving to be the team's leading rusher with just 55 yards on 11 carries. Rookie Daniel Thomas gained 12 yards on 28 carries. On the other side, LaDainian Tomlinson led all rushers with a whopping 56-yards, with Shonn Greene adding 55 of his own.

As for the receivers, Jeremy Kerley led the way for the Jets, with a game high 71-yards, and tight end Dustin Keller pulled in 7 passes. For Miami, Brandon Marshall caught 5 of his 8 targeted passes, gaining 50 yards. The lone Miami touchdown came on a one yard pass to rookie Charles Clay.

Randy Starks, defensive end, had the game of his life today, sacking Sanchez once, and picking him off twice. Linebacker Marvin Mitchell added an interception as well.

While the Jets scored two touchdowns through the air, the Dolphins relied on the right foot of kick Dan Carpenter. With just the one touchdown from Moore to Clay, it was up to DC$ to score the 12 points needed to push Miami to the win. And, Carpenter didn't disappoint, going 4-for-4, with a long of 58-yards as time ran out in the first half.

But the real story of the game was Jason Taylor. Although Taylor only tallied one tackle and one quarterback hit, the day belonged to the retiring Dolphins legend. The team recognized him before the game, and then carried him off the field at the end of the game. Taylor finishes his career, a 15-year career that will ultimately lead him to Canton and enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, in sixth place all time in sacks, with 139.5. Taylor has been the face of the Dolphins franchise for so long, it's odd to think of him not out there. Even with a year in Washington with the Redskins, and last season with the Jets, Taylor always was a Miami Dolphin - even in London where a giant Taylor robot was made to advertise the first ever regular season game in London back in 2007 - and he will be missed.

JT, we will miss you.

Now, on to one final celebration of a win, and then it's time to sit back, watch some playoff football over the next few weeks, and start figuring out what we, and the team, are going to do for the offseason.

Ah first for both the game thread and this one.. I feel special. Way to end the season.. Now a very interesting (hopefully in a good way) offseason begins

at least it will be an active offseason, rather than a lockout one .
I loved the giant JT.

Shame his TD got overturned. Would have been an awesome finish.

Now this season is over where do we go from here?
Who will be calling the shots come Week 1? Who will be behind Mike Pouncey?
Will we have a 3-4 or 4-3 D?
Will we have shored up the right hand side of the line?

I wanted that giant JT for my yard, lol

what a way to out though, almost a dream recovery and touchdown, but still causing sancheeze to flub the ball to stark’s was priceless!

Add to his NFL record

It wasn’t meant to be.

tebow lost his grace! He might have had impure thoughts about orton , lol
Anybody else watching NBC?

I saw King and Florio discuss Sherman possibly coaching the Rams next year and Jon Gruden not coaching in 2012. I caught it just for that though, did they mention anything about other possible coaches?

I also caught the Matt Flynn talk, hopefully the Skins sign him..No more backups for us!

It will be interesting to see how many people jump on the Matt Flynn bandwagon now.

Gets the start, throws for 480 yards and 6 TDs – both Packers records. And, when you have Starr, Favre, and Rodgers in your franchise, that’s a HUGE accomplishment.

I kind of want a home grown guy though

re-treds like Culpepper and AJ Feely has gotten us to the mediocracy that we are today

Yes, the definition of insanity

we can’t go down the same path. No more mediocrity, no sir!

I'm clear away from that one.. Hopefully he makes it easier for us to land RG III by signing with another QB needy team
I was toying with the idea last week. (Still on the fence)

MM could never put numbers like that up and I don’t think he has the stones to bring us back when we are trailing. Matt Flynn does have an elite receiving corps and not too bad an o-line.

Ed Snider is drooling already
Sure is quite.
These late afternoon games have been compelling to watch
I am just aggravated at the lack of respect from the NFL Network

A single comment about JTs retirement as an afterthought during the recap and then nothing. It went from recap to Rex Ryan interview to Mark Sanchez at the podium to Santonio Holmes at the podium then to talks about how the Jets missed the playoffs and the regression from 2010 to 2011. Not a single thing said about a legend.

NFL network has just surpassed ESPN as the worst media outlet for football, way to go classless assholes. This is all I can say to you.

..l..(-_-)..l..

PS someone should tell NFL network we won...
They don't respect us because we are 6-10

we have been out of the playoff race since October. The jets were still in the playoff race and have been more relevant than we have in the past two years. Whenever we get a franchise QB and we start making the playoffs, then they will focus on us more.

That doesnt discount the fact that JT is a legend

And should be respected as one

Deion Sanders and Steve Mariuchi

spent more time on it in Gameday Final. Also you need to understand what sells. The Jets are the Jets and alot has happened to their club this season and especially in the last three weeks.

who cares!!! let the Jets get all the attention this week as underachieving losers who failed to live to the expectations

who cares if they fail to mention us, the Jets failed and were exploited this week, enjoy watching them take a seat.. it sure beats the alternative.

its not about us, its about JT. he deserved more than a simple nod

Suckchode and rockhead ryan havent accomplished shit in the nfl.

Denver lost, but SD won.
With Oakland's loss, none of our wins came against playoff teams
Damn facts ...!!!
and friggin denver gets in by default !
with a 8 - 8 record.
That won't change either cuz we lost to both Cowboys and Giants
So it looks like a

NE vs Cincinnati and Baltimore vs Pittsburgh division final.

I'm rooting for Houston big time

I want the Patsys to have to go through Pittsburgh and then Baltimore.

haven't been around in a while

I have 3 seminar papers so I have been a good boy. Still, today was a fine win. Disappointing season, but fun anyway, especially here. See you in about a month.

Will miss JT.

Nice to see you Strange.
Hey Buddy,.....

Doing well I hope,…

Hey Ohio, you were on TV a couple of times today.
saw you on tv.
Welcome home brother!
thx

I will be gone for a bit more. I am swamped. But, had to say hi today. This is home.

Well we will hold your seat till you return.
There was one thing I was hoping to feel good about going into this game, but it didn't quite happen

and that’s Daniel Thomas.. I know Reggie has played well but I’d rather not have him be our every down back.. I feel he’ll get beat up real soon. I’d rather have him be in the open field more and have someone else for our power back, as opposed to just the fullback

This one was emotional,....

It’s hard to sum it up here,…..
Stay tuned for the Fanpost, complete with one or two pictures,…

only one or two??? LOL
In Ohio speak 1=10 and 2=20.
LOL... that's more like it
Ohio tends to underexaggerate

Rex Ryan on the otherhand…..

“JETS BEST TEAM EVER, 19-0 LOCK IT UP. I WILL LOSE 40 POUNDS THIS YEAR. SANCHEZ GREATEST QB EVA,NAMATH SECOND”

LOL Ohio is the anti Ryan wing bag!
What's a "wing bag" ?
Sorry "wind bag". I suck at typing sometimes. Spell check does not catch improperly spelled words that are also words.
Skelton led the Cards to a nice OT win over the Seahawks

Quick, give him a call!

this post says jt had only 1 tackle and a qb hit. jt in fact hit sanchez as he was throwing the ball, leading to the starks pic.

it was a lot more than a mere qb hit. it was momentum shifting. as for the jt touchdown called back. what the hell., what happened was for us fans, and jt fans, in this last game, all that was really needed, it was the idea that counted!

so glad jt had more gumption, loyalty, and bone deep aqua and orange than any in the former front office administration. he ended things on his terms, as a dolphin, and with honor and accolades as a human being and a man. way to be jt….

That game was why over the top, but didn't it seam "the norm" for (our leader) on defense!
*way* over the top!
The ONE time when we could have actually gotten a franchise QB through free agency, we failed

meanwhile…

Brees set NFL single season records for pass yards (5476), comp (468), comp % (71.2%), 300-yard games (13) & consec 300-yard games (7)
Earl, let it go.

That was a long time ago. Drew Bress is an amazing player, but that was a completely different team and completely different management.

I think we should be able to temporarily ban anyone that brings it up but I would have a hard time doing so to Duke.
I brought that up specifically for the point that that was the ONE AND ONLY time a free agent QB would have worked out

All the other times, it fails.

Ohhh I completely misunderstood what you were saying.
Plus I was giving Brees some credit for being awesome this season

I’m actually less mad about the Brees deal than I am for us skipping Rodgers to draft Brown.

Well we are at another crossroads

We have a chance to draft a Quarterback this year, althougth IMO there is no chance that Luck or Griffin are on the board at 9. I think they both go in hte top 5 so for draft either one we will have to trade up or take another Quarterback behind them.

Free agency poses seriosu problems as we btoh know, but Matt Moore deserves serious consideration for the longterm.

*serious and both

To take a Quarterback is extremely expensive, whether we trade up for Griffin or Luck or use our first round pick at nine for one, the fact is we will be using our first round pick.

Matt Moore is the biggest and most pressing question of this franchise right now.

Yeah I kinda misunderstood your point too lol

Thanks for clarifying.. We’ll still have to fight to prove that for the next couple months though lol. Oh man i hope we don’t sign Flynn

had to bring it up... yep it hurts a ton everytime i think of what could have been with Brees...

im guilty of thinking about this and bringing it up time to time as well cuz ur right…. its the one time we had a free agent shot to get what is now a clear cut super star and hall of famer…and now record holder and we PASSED on him and took Culpepper… i feel sick now and every time i think of it…what a different state this franchise would likely be in now had the devil (Saban) had made the proper choice back when…and now seeing those amazing record breaking numbers…coulda, shoulda, woulda…right?

Leave it alone geeze, EVERY damn post theres sumn to say about a qb or not getting one.

If it happens it happens and you cant change the past, let it go already. A legend is leaving the game and we got off with a victory despite bad qb play. We had a DT get two interceptions, a kicker boot 4 field goals some of wich were from 50+ yards away, and we won.

Instead its gotta be all qb all the time, shit we know we need a qb already and missed out on some, but can we for the love of god acknowledge the freaking positives….

Hater to the T.

Cris Carter is got to be the biggest hater out there, I just seen a video on mobile ESPN where him and the other announcer are talking about how JT is going out on a high note and HOF honors, and Carter says: “I don’t know about that.”

Chris Carter is a douche then. A douche I tell ya.
Aww come owwwwawawn maaannn

Fool

He's just upset he hasn't made the HoF yet, talk about sour grapes!
well, he does deserve it too
Considering the logjam at WR there's a decent chance

JT will get there first.

I really wish we could have gotten Mana Silva SS

He was an UDFA who I was really high on. Baltimore signed him to the practice squad then Denver then Buffalo. Dallas poached him off Buffalo’s PS and now he’s playing for the ’Boys.

Haha!

J ust

E nded

T heir

S eason

Victor Cruz

What an UDFA gem. Guy has 1440 yards, 9 TD’s and a 18.5 Yards/catch.

78 receptions and counting
Most ever receiving yards in the history of the Giants

Victor Cruz

lol @ the JT hate

Y’all haters on espn and nfln wish you were as good as him.

Nice End

I never count the season as a total loss when we beat the Jets. Actually we helped put 2 teams out of the playoffs. The Raiders and the Jets. It’s sad to see Jason go. He’s been one of the few bright spots for the Fins in recent years. Well, it’s time to turn a new chapter. New coach, new QB, a new confidence.

Give my boy Moore some credit

He had a crappy 1st half, but he stepped up when he needed it. More of Moore in 2012!

Sounds a awful lot like Tom Brady, a few back!
P.s. with less years playing with the same team IMO!
Not sure who gets the last laugh

Sure we knocked the Jets out of the playoffs, but they hurt our draft by loosing.

Moore shows some promise, but will never replace drafting a young gun. I’m wondering about Keenum. I think he’s playing well and deserve a look if he is available
